Lucid in Manchester??...

I'm from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and have researched the company MagiCorp, who are heading up the openning of a Lucid nightclub in Toronto. I noticed on MagiCorp's website, that there's a Lucid in Manchester.
Could you guys give me a scope of how it is there? good/bad management? any trance/big-name parties? izit a good/bad venue?...basically any kind of personal review of the place is what I'm hoping to get.
I'm hoping the Lucid they open here is gonna be a good place to go, as there's only 1 other nightclub of similar size in Toronto (the Guvernment Complex).

thanks ahead.

Here is some info:

LUCID, The Printworks, M4 2BS 0161 817 2929

The final pieces of the Printworks (Europe's Largest Indoor Something or Other) are slipping in to place, and this, a huge 1300 capacity club/bar, looks like it could be one of the most important venues they've signed up. Ran by a Canadian megacorporation, Lucid was initially aimed at the trendy upmarket crowd (see advertising with sexy models). However it doesn't seem to have gone exactly to plan. Every alternate Thursday is a Beach Party ("Will you go down when the sun goes down?") with a mix of dance and pop, whilst a School Disco occupies the other Thursdays. Wednesdays are retro night, although the entry price remains firmly in the Y2K era (4.50 after 11).

Don't get me wrong, this is a really cool space. Considering this is basically a rather large basement, the internal design is quite trendy with plenty of areas to explore and bars to provide you with sustenance...the problem for me was the crowd - it reminded me of Infinity. If you're launching a venue with glossy adverts but then decide run School Discos, you haven't really stuck to your gameplan. Sure you want to make money, but take a hit during the week and make sure that your Friday and Saturday nights are something special. The problem is my initial visit on a Friday was disappointing, particularly with the DJ who was loved to fade-out records, then fade the next one in, although his tune selection was passable

One thing I do dislike is the spin surrounding venue openings now, and how embarrassing it is when the venue doesnt deliver. Give Lucid an hour of your time and see if you think it " has totally remixed Manchester's entertainment and dining experience". Alternatively, one night, when you're "happily trekking from bar to restaurant around Manchester, enjoying a fairly shallow experience", try Lucid as they promise that it will make your life go "BAM!". Clearly a press release from the pen of a batman writer. To conclude, Lucid wasn't really a hit (KAPOW!) with me, although I was knocked back (THUD!) by the amount of space in the venue. Try it, and see if it knocks you out (DOOSH!)

I've never been to it because seems like an average cheese club to me. I hear it's one of these places to be seen in, becasue local tv stars go in there etc, and someone got stabed in there the other night I think.

Damn this place is huge, only been there once so I cant really tell you how it is on other nights. I went on a thursday night so they had a 70s-80s night. Its pretty much a commercial bar/club, the only reason I would go there if I wanted to pick up some girls

ps. no big named Djs go there, Tiesto is gonna be here in days but he's not gonna play there, instead a place that holds only 500 people
