They released him because they want to kill him. They can't kill him while in custody but if they let him loose in Gaza they can send an Apache to blow his car up after the next attack....

That theory might work except for one thing ... if he's already in jail, what harm can be done by keeping him in jail? He's as good as dead for all intents and purposes.

A prisoner exchange makes more sense.
