Something Diff: Who is your fave DJ?!

thought i would post a new thread on something new instead of the proverbial review/ta meetup threads, etc. so who is your fave dj, how does he/she make you feel, and why???!!!

God

If you don't know who he is you need to be shot.

lol

jp

PvD.......

PvD all the way!!! He allways has a great energy and a positive vibe, and he knows how to work a crowd like no one else. His track selections are always awesome, and you just cant help but dance your ass off when hes on the decks.

Posted by Mattivi on May-06-2004 22:15:

thought i would wait a few post before i did mine...and alott of people know that i am a self advertised Tiesto Whore. why? because no body can take you on that journey like tiesto, i think that is what a good trance/prog set should be, a journey. and everytime i see him he always has the newest tracks no one seems to have, and his track selection is world renowned. and my god, if any of u where at majik muzik nite, you witness some of most insane energy that has ever come to space, my feet and everyone else's i think never stayed on the ground for longer than two seconds! i guess to sum it up why i think he is MY fave dj is the tracks(they just suit my taste), the way he takes u on a majik journey, almost anticiapating what u want to hear, and the energy like only he can bring. and one more thing, tiesto is the only dj ever to make me cry because i was so happy!

That is quite a difficult question,i have a fave dj for almost every genre. But for most of my electronic music listening years it has been Nick Warren he has such a contrasting style in his sets that can go from being atmospheric to hard breaks and back to tribal & tech house, and the most important thing of all an amazing track selection,i had a great time back in the day seeing him and Dave Seaman at firestone. But i have to say recently James Holden has creeped into a steady rotation in my cd player with his balance cd and his essential mix and space sets....the man is f***in brilliant. For breaks what can i say Phil K is the brightest and drum n bass will always be LTJ Bukem in my book.Dj shadow is my fave with his moody downtempo breaks fused with sharp turntablist techniques.

#1. PvD
#2. Tisto
#3. Armin

I'll post why later.

What a hard question right now. My top four favorite DJ's are Tiesto, Ferry Corsten, Paul van Dyk, and Armin van Buuren. I think I would put Tiesto first, but Ferry Corsten and Paul van Dyk are right up there too. I've always been partial to Paul van Dyk for personal reasons and I absolutely adore Ferry. Hell...put all three of them in first. I've never seen Armin live...yet...so I can't give the same feedback because his ranking is only based on listening to CD's and live sets. Ask me this again after June 18th and I'll answer it more honestly. I'm positive that Tiesto will blow the roof off of Space and he will validate my initial desire to put him in first. Neil is right...Tiesto takes you on a journey unlike anyone else. Those are my four favorite DJ's...the ones that would make me do almost anything just to be in their presence.

1. Tiesto
2. Ferry Corsten & Paul van Dyk
3. Armin van Buuren

Anyone who knows me knows the answer to this one ....

ARMIN!!!!!!!!!!

And reasons, well his style most fits my taste, I love the energy he gives off during his sets, his track selection, and just Armin himself. He's such a nice guy, he still plays regular "trance" and I just prefer him over any other dj at this point

Well, by looking at my avatar and my sig, it is not such a burdening and complicated task to figure out who is my fave DJ.

Posted by trancebrat on May-07-2004 02:08:

I agree, Damon, Blank and Jones and Above & Beyond are both bad ass.

Posted by ambs on May-07-2004 02:14:

Thumbs up

I haven't had the privilige to see A&B live yet... Just Jono Grant when he did the ASOT XXL and I went to the recording.. Was a pretty cool guy, but I really enjoy their radio program and their sound

Posted by Mattivi on May-07-2004 02:26:

I agree also with Damon's post of Johan Gielen, his set at ultra, although short, was my favorite! he puts great energy into his sets and always seems to throw in a classic to mix things up a bit, defintely an up and comer, love his radio show on ID&T called "Liftoff". some interesting responses, keep em comin.

I think A&B are overrated as both DJ's and Producers, their sound has become prety stale to me, with the exception of their oceanlab stuff. Last time seeing Blank & Jones I vowed I would never see them again. They were sooooo bad, almost as bad as Mark Norman's mixing @ Trance Energy where he capped off a triumphant set with Zombie Nation - Kernkraft

Interesting. I was basing mine off of two live sets that I heard of B & J and their CD's The Mix 1 & 2. They sounded bad ass. ?
