lol thanks for tip
Ahh, the good info you find on TA!

Good grief

It's actually a good, informative and witty movie that will show you, among a lot of other things, how the acid house movement started and how the legendary club Hacienda in Manchester came to be.

Definetly recommended for everybody with a slightest interest in contemporary music history (especially dance-music).

I liked it alot and think its a good movie for example telling how acts like New Order came along.

This movie DID suck ass...and for some strange reason an advert for it came inside one of my vinyls (i forget which one, but i think it was Ferry Corsten - Rock your body rock)...

And for 'Az'...this was good advice, so if you have a strong positive opinion of this film, why not express it rather than try to opress the free speech of others...

In MY opinion, this movie COULD have been MUCH better but it was BORING and dull and did i mention boring and dull?

Posted by Psy-T on May-07-2004 12:57:

where can i catch it?

it's a superb film, it told a story everyone should know, and is far from boring
the person who made this thread needs to be oppressed, and you also
possibly
not about party people

damn, that movie is class! ok so its not 100% about techno and trance, but it is a great film on a large part of music history.. the same history that continuously shapes our music scene. new order, the general 'worship to the medium' (the dj) as opposed to the artists, the club setting, its all there.

and one valuable lesson learned from the movie, if you omit all of the history and evolution, is the NOT SELLING OUT. pure class.

EXACTLY!

Plus the cast include some fine actors, this movie shouldnt compared to the likes of kevin and perry, this film is about the development and growth of the music and drugs scene in Manchester.

Plus it always includes Pete Saville one of the worlds greatest designers. he created all the artwork for factory records

IMO it was a great movie. It had alot of interesting stuff about Hacienda and New Order.

and this girl was hyping Van Helsing.

24 Hour Party People is a very accurate historical account of the punk-new wave-acid house evolutions in Manchester. It's actually a very important chapter in the history of dance music (can you say New Order?). Maybe it's not the best acted or directed movie out there, but anyone with a historical consciousness in regards to edm will appreciate it.

I reckon it's an excellent movie ... I would have loved to have been around in the early '90s and go to the Hacienda and all that ... there was some bloody good music made around that period

Posted by Raptor on May-07-2004 19:42:

read the box next time please. the movie is fantastic!

Posted by PETRAN on May-07-2004 19:58:

Wasn't that the movie which showed joy division playing their stuff live, with ian curtis doing the crazy stuff at the scene? Damn that was a good movie about the new wave movement.
