why aren't you going? i dont understand what it is about raves and TAs not going? so much better than the club scene.

Well I've been going to "raves" for over 7 years now, so I know what the "scene" is like...

Majority of the Rave Scene: People sitting in the middle of the dancefloor rollin face, looking like there freezing to death. People colapsing from smoking too much juicccccccccccccce O_o

Majority of the Club Scene: Doods walking around all jacked bumping into people and are there just to pick up girls O_o

That's how it is now a day's IMO...and when you compare the 2 "scenes" the clubs bring in the big headlines - the raves bring in the same dj's i've seen over 20 times who still tend to play the same tracks here and there...going to a rave is like going back in a time warp...same shit, same dj's, and usually...the same place O_o Don't get me wrong I used to love them, just losing repect for them as every party seems to have the same friggin' lineup now a days.

I was actually looking foward to this lineup for One Nation...but to my disapointment its all the same dj's that have been booked 100s of times at raves i've been to...I'll go back someday, when something imo "good" is worth going to.

So that's why i don't think the rave scene is better then the club scene - why do you think the rave scene is better? i'm just curious...

Posted by CityKitty on May-09-2004 20:35:

personally I prefer raves because I like the atmosphere. But I'm not a pill-popper. In fact, I'm usually sober at every event, give or take a few. Yes, a lot of kids sit around rolling. Yes, it's the same DJ's. But you get the same DJ's in the clubs too. And the atmosphere isn't as friendly. People stand around and don't dance the way I dance. They're too budy checking each other out at clubs, and for someone like me who's not single, it's just annoying. I love both, but I don't last the whole night at a place like the Roxy, where there are SO many heads you can't move, SO many sweating bodies and screaming girls, that I feel like I'm gonna go insane. Maybe it's a phase for me, but I'm gravitating towards a more chill environment, which is perhaps one of the redundant features of a rave, but still reliable if it's what you're looking for. In the end they both have their place.

no. they are not in the middle of the dance floor; they're off to the sides not bothering anybody in their own little world; good for them... and you can't "stereotype" people like that... a guy who i was dancing all night with went and sat down with me and we were talking... that doesnt mean we were on pills cuz we're sitting down... but i see where you're headed with this.

yes... i'd say at least 55% of people at a club are trying to pick up girls. at raves its like more like 10%....

... and you wouldnt say clubs are only booking pvd, tiesto, armin, etc etc etc? and only at avalon, crobar?... same place same djs?

Um I guess this aguement will go nowhere because um yes... alot of people do do that. And if you think thats good then we're totally different kinds of people.

Sure I can, i just did, and why not? it's true, plus i said the majority...

Well that's great - I didn't say everyone was on pills either, I said a good majority of the people there are, and i wouldn't think you were - well unless you were sittin in the corner shivvering haha.

Well if we are doing %'s i would have to say 90% of guys at clubs are, not 55%, and probably 75% at raves, your kidding when you say 10%, u must have no clue what's going on, sorry O_o

This is the only valid part of what ur saying makes sence - but imo i rather see tiesto, pvd, fery armin etc 20 times (im just speaking for me here) around people that are mainly trying to pick up girls and looked jacked. then frankie bones, spacegirl, dj dan, etc around a majority of people who just go to get fucked up and think that those djs are gods....but if you rather go see those dj's that's ur taste and i hope you enjoy it, and of corse there's nothing wrong with that hehe. Butttttt, we go back to the original statement that you said that brought me to state my opinion....Comparing the 2 scene's -There's nothing you can say man that will change the FACT that the majority of people that goto raves get tons of more fucked up and shit then at clubs, its just the way it is and has been for a while. hence why i dont see how the scene is in any way better nevermind what you said "so much better" then the club scene. Plus Tiesto comes to town what 2 times 3 times a year, armin what 4 times if were lucky, pvd the most, ferry a few times too etc
...frankie bones, all the "rave" dj's or whatever come around i'd say at least once a month, even more often at times, so it isn't really a good thing to compare when they come around a lot more often..

anyways i'm done now, peace and respects. hopfully they'll be a lineup sometime soon that will bring me out to one again

i'll most likely be there because my boss (Pat Fontes) is playing.

The last event at Hammerstein Ballroom kinda sucked royally, so I don't think serge and I will be attending this one. If any of you guys were at the last one you'd know what I was talking about- lots of confusion about what DJ was playing when and things of that nature. Who knows, maybe the atmosphere will be improved for this one.

Aww man!!! was looking forward to seeing you there. What happened that made it so bad? I didnt see anything posted for any trance DJ's here either....was anyone spinning trance at the last one?

Alyssa,

I heard Dumonde was cancelled. And the whole Hammerstein thing just popped up when my BF's friend said he was coming in from FL...but if Dumonde is cancelled then whatever, but if he isnt then I have a tough descision because I def cant go to both and his friend is only herefor 2 days so they wont be able to make it to Dumonde. I hope somehow magically Dumondewill be rescheduled for the same day as this event, but thats a long shot.
