Networking 2 computers with 1 cable

How would i go about networking 2 computers with 1 crossover cable so that i could transfer files from 1 to the other? One pc has win98se and the other has win2000. I could only get as far as plugging in the cable...what are you supposed to do next?

Cant exactly remember on those OS, but u wanna look for "network neighbourhood" i think.

click it and i believe it'll have a network connections "wizard" that you'll have to do, shouldnt be too hard though.

If that dont work post back or msg me and i'll look into it.

im assuming u dont fancy sepdning extra cash, but if you did, u could buy a router and another cable and plug em in that way, very easy.

wrong. its cheaper for a 2 pc network soloutuion and just as fast, to just use a cross over ethernet cable.

im not to sure if win2000 has the networking wizard with it or not, check out http://www.makeitsimple.com/how-to/simple.htm for a guide i found with agoogle search, i would setup all the networking setings on the win2000 box first, then set up the win98 box second
