new addict needs urgent advice!
hi huys im a new addict from england im djing this friday for a friend and i gota take my own equipment. anyways i wanna get a new mixer cos i just sold my last one on ebay and i want an opinion on which one to buy. i play trance house breaks and old skool and i thought of these 3 - numark dxm06 , allen and heath xone32 , or the vestax pcv275. anyway what do u guys think i need lots of opinions and fast. obv those mixers are a varied price range but do u think any of them stand out?and why?
kind regards
dan
sound quality: xone
is that because you have that mixer? anything else good about it ? or do u think i should save my money and go for the numark?
well, the A&H prolly has the best quality of those mixers. but if you're going to upgrade again soon, i see no point in buying something too big. or, well, you could still buy the most expensive one and sell it at a high price, given you take good care of it. blah, do what your heart tells ya. try and see if you can test them before buying, go to some shop, they should have a few display models open or something.
good advice thanks. u see im still pretty unsure of what qualitys i require in a mixer for my style of music. all i hear about are scratch mixers and little else. obv i need a good set of kills but what else? the numark mixer has an excellent set of kills and 12 effects. what makes the a&h and vestax mixers so expensive?????

The vestax you mentioned is probably in terms of what you get for your money the best value of the three. Not to mention the fact that it will be more than enough to use at home and parties etc. You get them is some clubs too. The A&H Xone 32 is far to expensive for what you are getting in my opinion, and if you are going to spend that sort of money you might as well put a couple of hundred extra into a Pioneer DJM 600. It's what a lot of the name DJs are asking for when they play at a place. It's a very versatile mixer too. Cheers Nem |

im actually really curious on how the new denon mixer compares to the pion DJM 600.
guys this is great stuff thanks for your opinions. i was afraid there would be a dispute on which to buy and it looks like its happened. so what is it that the xone32 actually does, barring sound quality, that makes it 500 pounds worth of product. on paper it actually seems that the numark (sorry to blaspheme nem*) dxm06 actually has MORE features than the other two combined altho this may be just a novices view. wow im confused! i have heard a few stories about pioneer mixers mainly bad reports though saying they are no where near worth the price. and at 650 pounds i would need to be a name dj to get the value from it surely. either way im on a gap year before uni and i wanna buy the mixer now to ensure i have something to last before i go uni and have no money!does the dxm06 look the best bet at only 200 pounds???
I've got the DXM06 and am very happy with it. Since I mix mainly in my bedroom and am a relative noob as far as skills go it does everything I need it to do and works great, bear in mind I've only had it for a month so time will tell with the reliability. As far as the effects it's not 12 different effects, it's 6 effects/channel and out of those 6 only 3 (flanger, phaser, and filter) are worth much of anything. I didn't really buy it for the effects though so I'm not to worried about the quality of them. I mainly bought it as a startup mixer to see if I would actually like the DJ thing and have quickly grown to love it (can't say the same for my bank account). I plan on getting a new one when I either outgrow it or it goes to shit, so for what I bought it for it works like a charm.
this is a funny thread.
you get what u pay for.
digital effects are lame. id rather take clean subtle and fluid eq's and faders then some shitty digital effects that in no way make you a creative dj.
this is my advice, get the xone:32 and play around for a while, then if u REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY want a fx unit then look into the efx-500 or just wait for the new fx unit to come out.
Yeah, FX should really have nothing to do with your purchasing decision in my opinion. I've not used the Xone:32 but I own a 62 and have never used any mixer I like as much (though I'm willing to bet I wouldn't mind the 92 or 464
). The analogue filters are great and if you decided you really wanted effects you can always pick up a unit for that purpose which would definately give you more control over the effects. Xone:32 all the way!

Nah mate forget the DXM06 get it's big brother like I did.
PPD01 same price (199 normally 330ish) but EX-Demo gets shipped straight from the Alesis factory with a 12 month warranty and a free pair of shit headphones. Thats your best bet for the money.
Think about when you go to sell it too...... it's a 300+ level mixer which you paid 200 for i.e. you'll get more for it say 150+ or something.

ok this is all good stuff. so basically we are swinging towards the xone32 does noone wanna stick up for the pcv275?i spose i need to try these mixers out to see if theres actually 300 pounds worth of difference between say the xone32 and the dmx06. truth is - for a mixer that has no effects or anything special that i can see, can the xone32 really be 300 pounds better quality?
dan =)
Well, I will stand up for the 275. I have one myself, it's a Good solid mixer, will last you years just like techs. No FX on it, but it does have one more channel thant the dmx, and it's cheaper than the xone.
It sounds nice, EQs are excellent, kill switches are good, metering is good, it's all in all an excellent mixer to use.
Lets put it this way. If it was between the Vestax and the Allen and Heath and money wasn't a problem, Allen and Heath hands down would win my purchase.
I own a $1500 mixer, that has no effects or other digital crap on it.
Dateq LPM 7.3
Why have I bought it? Because of its quality, not of its super-cool effects (it has no effects
).
What i'm trying to say is, don't buy a mixer because of its looks or its features, buy it because of its quality.
In your situation, i would definately go for the A&H, although the PCV 275 is not a bad mixer at all.
if you are playing breaks, i would reccommend the vestax. the faders are nice and sharp and the kills are very useful. i hate the allen & heath faders, in particular the x-fader... its dogshit! completely useless for any cutting needs..
the filters are nice on a xone 32, but that is all there is and it gets a bit boring, not to mention the thing is shit ugly. pcv 275 comes in champagne (oooo).
if you want fx, buy an fx unit. spend the money on touhger hardware inside the mixer
Don't forget that Numark PPD01 deal... 200 instead of 300+.
it has filters
ace faders(d-type digital)
the ablity to have either the channel or master out level shown on the LEDs
unbelivable sound quality (100+dB SNR I belive different for phono but it is for all)
crossfade cue section
and 7 effects (tho I'd only use 3 of them ish)
Whatever you do tho don't settle for the DMX6 if you are gonna pay that much get the PPD01 istead. If you can pay more then perhaps get a Xone or whatever.
pmc37pro all the fuckin way!!!!
LOVE MINE!!!!
so dervish are they ex display models on that website?looks a pretty good mixer though. does everyone agree then that the allen and heath will last longer and is a better build quality? and that it will serve me well for the types of music i am going to be playing?although i am only vinyl now, i am thinking that in the future i may need to add a cdj so 3 channels is prob best. i suppose also that buying the allen and heath now may save money in the future on upgrading. any thoughts? the mixer i just had was a k2f ltd - didnt have it for long i sold it almost immediately on ebay. it was so basic for 250 pound and had a 2 pin plug - and didnt have a secondary booth output for monitor speakers - how poor is that!
Yeah it's a ex display model straight from Alesis. Clean as a whistle.
