11. Robert Nickson - Spiral
12. Will Holland - Summer Breeze
13. Push - Journey of Life (Original Mix)
I appreciate your attention to this as well as any feedback possible. Trance is not very big in my area anymore and I'm trying to bring that "big name" feel to the Texas trance scene. Too much cheese going around has hurt us Texas tranceaddicts a bit. Thanks again folks!!!
very tasty. transitions not too flashy and smooth. coming out of "act of god" (love that mix and very appropriate) and into the next track i noticed a little drama, that can't be easy to do but turned out just fine. spot on flow of tracks.
reely reely liked it and others will too.
BTW i was born and raised in dallas. came up in the DJ merit and bomb factory daze and your right. WTF happened to the tx. techno scene? and is ALIEN records still doing business in austin? I haven't been back in a while.
good luck
Yeah, that Global Phases song is a bitch to mix in. Just gotta keep practicing it to get it down. I thank you for checking it out.
bumpsky!!!
Iv pretty much decided to move on. I mean, I play sometimes here in TX... but im trying for more out of state gigs as of late.
Alien is still in austin, just moved to a new location too. BUT I dont like the record selection..
Anyway, good luck
'nother bump. anymore feedback?
bump.
no feedback from anyone? didn't wanna let this go to the 2nd page.
dl'in dont have time to reply atm tho, will reply w/feedback l8r :P
Octane, haven't listened to the promo just yet but I'll download it soon when I have some time. Just wanted to say that your taste in trance is quite similar to my own, and I'm from SA also. PM me, would be interested in having a chat, as I'm just starting out on my decks (just got my second turntable a few days back) and loving it.
Cheers
EDIT: and by the way, go here to add yourself to the Texas TA headcount and grab yourself a number if you want to represent
keepin' this alive
Thought I would bump this again. Sorry to be bumping my own thread guys.
Sorry to bump my own thread guys. Just want feedback on this. I want to rerecord it to perfect the beatmatching.
Will DL and post my opinions later =)
I'll give u feedback dude. I'll be honest.
1st mix into enigma was shaky, but I think u already would know this. The flow was good though.
2nd mix into mono - rise. Heaps better. Love the track, great beatmatching and transition
3rd mix into always - Not my kind of track (bit hard), but mixing was okay. Not the best but u managed to hang onto the mix.
4th mix into circulation. Ah!, sounded pretty bad, but the tracks seem to work with one another, but maybe to many hi-hats in there. I'd say if u worked on the beatmatching overall, this set would be work heaps better. I like this circulation track a lot.
5th mix into pirate, I liked. The flow here is really good, just the right track at the right time I feel. Mixing is again not without its flaws (in respect to beats slipping) but its good enough I think. Love the flow of the mix though!! Go the ferry remix!
6th mix into 'right of way'. It was fine. But when i dj I try not to play like 2 tracks or rmx's from the same producer right bang after each other. Unless the crowd is like mad about that producer or something. Banging track though.
Right of way into faraway project. I like the flow, mixing went of there, but u had it bang on as u started to bring it in
I like the flow into the joop track. Nice one
Good changeup
I'm not sure what 2 say about the mix into jon the dentist. Sounds like it works, but you're mixing was way off. And if its a hard mix to do, I def would recommend not doing it. The tracks are probably out of key, so I would say steer clear of such mixes in the future even if it might sound good.
i liked the mix into spiral
great track. Will holland track is boring for me so mixing into that is just well boring and same for the push track. So I wouldn't end the cd on this note if it was me.
Okay, best point in the mix for me is the pirate track. Really peaks there (the way u flowed it up til that point), and I love the mono - rise track.
Thx for letting me listen,
Kev. Maybe u should critique one of my mixes
Badass Kev. Thanks for the feedback. I listened to it on the way home and know exactly what you're talking about. I'm starting to understand the whole key aspect of mixing. It really separates the good mixes from the bad.
I think I tried to do too many "trance types" in one set (driving to "party" to hard to epic to uplifting). It was my first mix from back in March and I feel I've learned a lot since then when it comes to beatmatching and key compliments.
Going into Global Phases was probably the most painful to hear because it drifted pretty bad. I was scared of that track when I first got it and I think I've conquered it now. I'm gonna play it at Mad Hatters after Echoes by Marco V. The tracks sync up really well.
I appreciate the HONEST feedback. It inspires me to practice even more and get those beats matched DAMMIT! : ) Thank you for taking the time bro. I will definitely search for a mix of yours and critique it as best I can.
No worries m8. I actually did a mix to give u an idea about this flow thing (but i've got no where to upload it right now). Its what makes a mix good IMO. I find that even if i hate a particular track, if it works well in the mix and flows etc, i actually end up really liking it, just because of how its placed and how its mixed in, etc.
U should check out harmonic mixing, it'll help you out heaps, but yeah I'd get your beatmatching down first
I love this, haven't posted the comments yet though..
I think you know which transitions are a bit shaky so I wont start pecking on that
..
Great tracklist and overall great mixing

Thanks for the feedback. You have no idead how much it helps me out. I made that mix back in March and when I listen to it now, I wonder hoe I was able to think it was good enough to post LOL. I made Massive about 3 months after and you can really see an improvement in timing, eq-ing, and beatmatching. Hopefully there will be a lot of improvement from Massive to the next one. Once again, I thank you for listening to my mix.
