Blank & Jones Remix Contest!

Link here

Remix their new track 'flowtation' and possibly get it released. Deadline is June 20, they allow submission of remixes via uploading (which basically means you can work on it until june 19 and still get it to them). PLus, it's open to anyone in the world!

It's a nice track, too. This should be fun.

No problem

My ears are too worn out right now, but tomorrow I'm gonna start my remix :d

Posted by AirPole on May-11-2004 07:38:

Yes absolutely!

This is a chance to get a track released, so you would be CRAZY (DUMB IF NOT) if you didn't take it......

I'll start off sooner or later!

...by which, of course, I meant I'd then open the MIDI file and start fucking around with Albino patches... aaargh... the addiction...

I might try it...dunno...the track didn't impress me that much but well...yeah

might be possible to do a nice proggy little remix

Smiley DJ

I guess I'll give it a shot. I would like to turn it into a progressive track too. That's not too far away from the original. But I think you shouldn't mess with the original track too much, otherwise they can't use it on their mix cd, because it wouldn't fit in.
I'm curious what other people want to make of it. Maybe techno or a funky house track

Red Room.

I'd love to hear yours, I'm planning to start next week, so you'll have to wait to hear mine

This track sounds soooo dated IMO, goddamn it's like they ripped that melody off from 4 years ago. Not sure if I'll bother, but it's cool that they're doing this competition.

cant say i have heard the track, maybe if armin is playing it a lot in his ASOTs I will have, but I dont know. Doesn't it say somewhere it cant stray too far from the original - has to fit the style of their label? Fair enough, but imo remixes should cater for a differant market to the original.

...two days?

You people kill me.

It should differ a bit, but not too much. I wouldn't copy it, but i wouldn't make hardcore of it either

doesn't it just say that they want it to atleast sound abit like the original and not like a new track.. which i think is totally fair.. hehe

Posted by skytribe on May-12-2004 17:31:

I think what they may have meant is that they wantto at least hear the melody... rather than having a remixer just take the vocal sample and create something totally new out of it.

If you like to make a remix, please don't publish your remix in any way (Websites, Forums, ...) befor the contest is over. After the contest you can contact us and talk with us about any possible permission to put your remix for free on a website, ... If we should find your remix anywhere befor the contest is over or without permission, you will be disqualified from the contest and possibly can get some more problems!

I'm scaaaaaared!!! What's next? DJ Sammy suing me for ripping off "his" "Summer is gone" song????

P.S. The only thing I can think of when it comes to "floatation" is a P.O.S., e.g. this tune. Eeek....

Posted by BetaFactory on May-22-2004 15:31:

Normally I would at least have given the track a chance when a possibility like this emerges, but sadly this original track was IMHO quite weak and did not give me any positive feelings or great new innovative ideas at all. This is as far as you can get from "Cream"...
