Spin Doctor - Phobos

Afternoon everyone, Spin Doctors back with tune number two for you all to have a peruse!

Inspiration for this was taken heavily from Mauro Picotto Luna, but its not by any shade a remix, and not quite a cover either, hence the moon themed name. Its an ambient number, best suited for the beginning or end of a set, though it would work as a break in the middle if you have the right tunes either side of it.

There are a few techniques in this tune that Ive not tried before, and I had a go to see what I could get out of them. That filtered whoosh is the most pronounced - I cant believe how easy it was once I figured out how it was done! Anyway, nothing ground breaking or spectacular, just me messing about to see what I could do, and as I havent posted any of my productions for a while since my first, I thought Id throw this up and see what people have to say. Oh, and this one, due to the small size, Im able to upload at 192.

Spin Doctor - Phobos
[1:36, 2.19 MB, 192 Kbps]

Currently working on: A remix of K90 Red Snapper and getting a 192k mp3 of my first tune upped for review.

Wow! Thanks for the comments. I wasnt at all expecting that kind of response, as it only took me a few hours to do.

Loganberry, Ive got the vocal on automated pan, but its not chopped up at all, thats how the sample came in the first place. Oh and hurry up with those exams so we can get cracking on that tune!

He he! Glad you liked Sunquest, and thanks for the feedback Fundamental!

I second that . Not a bedtime track though

Good stuff man. This reminds me a bit of the dark stuff that Tetsu Inoue has produced (Ambient Otaku - Ambient Otaku for instance), but perhaps a bit more dancefloor oriented. That sweep and the vocal works well and gives the track a nice amount of variation. More of this plzkthx

Thank you DRM, RaVeRSurGe, Sand Leaper and EternalMusic for the comments!

At the moment Ive got loads of projects that I want to get finished and out of the way, however, I do intend to come back to making some similarly styled tunes in the near future. Ive got one or two ideas I still want to try out, that I couldnt cram into this tune, and I especially want to give Absynth a thorough work out for this style too! So watch this space for more.

i feel like am on an empty planet and something huge gonne eat me..

anyway wind effect is a bit to loud, not mucb just a bit.

Posted by noikeee on May-16-2004 21:27:

woohaa nice intro

it's a bit too short though, it'd have to be really well timed to start a set, at least why don't you make the end in a not-so-sudden way?

also could you tell how did you make the creepy vocal, was it an existing sample?

I am well impressed Spin Doctor! I knew Luna had to have some influence

Its very dark, right up my street! Great to use as an inrto/outro! I like the name too, very appropriate!

Nice one mate
