in need of a new sound card..
well.. upon re-openin the remix i was werkin on for an Icone song, i hit a point in the song at which i remembered y i stopped remixin it. i completely forgot. my soundcard could not handle it.. lol.. plain and simple.. so now, job and all, i wanna get a good and inexpensive sound card. i'm not a huge computer junkie and really dont know what info i need to give to really get a good one.. i want one that will be able to handle what fruityloops throws at it. obviously, with all the piano and strings, my sound card just gave up. so..
dont laugh, i know your first suggestion is a new comp, but i'm happy with what i got.. lol..
off the of of my head (at werk right now)
Windows 98
320MB RAM
20GB HD
Intel Celeron (i think)
i forget the processor speed though, and i'm pretty sure thas needed.. but could u guys throw me some names and maybe some sites i can find em at..
fanks fanks!
Though this topic could best be moved where it belongs...?...
I don't know exactly if it's the soundcard which is the problem... your computer just tells your soundcard what to sound like, and all the sounds are generated by the processor actually. So how about a new processor to generate and calculate all the sounds on the fly..
Or am I missing something?
sorry.. posted the topic here cuz i want somethin made for media mainly.. good point though.. hadnt thought it couldve been my shitty Intel Celeron 533MHz processor
533.. yeah that's it!
On the other hand, I'm fruitying on a 2.66 p4, but i use loads of vsts and effects. Lags when i play full tracks of mine in fruity.
It is a processor issue, cause rendering the tracks takes long too.
I'd suggest getting a Soundblaster Audigy. Just 100 dollars and it comes bundled with some pretty sick video games. The Audigy series is simply the best sound cards in the market. I'm sure they'll be able to run on a 98 and with a Celeron processor. But you should really upgrade the processor with the Intel Pentium 4 series. At least 2 gigs. I believe you can find a 2.4 gig P4 for $150 now.
