Ferry & Armin...

Can someone Enlighten me why people rape ferry and armin. I used to enjoy Ferry's older sets, but now there isnt anything to special about them, seems to have dissapeared. Mabe not an amazing production in years? Maby I just dont like some of the stuff ferry drops/his recent productions? And Armin...

i have to be honest, on paper none of them have done anything decent (production and set-wise) lately
but ive enjoyed myself tremendously every time ive seen them which is why i love them (still)

edit - right of way (single)

i know what you mean, but i enjoy my self just as much @ tech house(112) some local djs here, as i do ferry/armin.

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-12-2004 20:10:

my fav track of theirs recently had to be, indigo, which wasnt even on the album...

Posted by mike_stefan69 on May-12-2004 20:11:

oh yeah, im not saying you cant enjoy yourslef when seeing other (smaller) djs. its just that i think most people enjoy themselves when they see both, esp armin; the "clued" up ones like him to an extent as he does play tunes from ASOT (which lets face it, is extremely popular).
the ones that are noobs love him coz they dont know any better

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-12-2004 20:16:

lol his asot tunes for 4 hours start to be realllllllll zzzzzzz, any longer is just painfull....plus ever concentrate on his mixing? to me it seems like he looses a lot of energy in every mix...at least ferry can mix properly

Posted by Ste on May-12-2004 20:23:

im enjoying ferry at the moment, he spins a nice veriety of tunes liek tehcno tech trance and normal trance, you have to put up with one or at max two shit tunes, usually RYBR, in his sets but all in all nice veriety and totally enjoyable. cant say the same for armin atm ive gone off him all together pretty much.

although saying that im finding myself less and less going out for specific dj's more just as long as there is music i will like.

my days of going to see armin are gone. once, there was a time, when he'd blow my socks off and id dance all night long without even a drug. now, i wouldnt take his record box if he left it in the car park with no1 around.

As for ferry, he still rocks, was great years ago and still great now. the only one from the big four i like.

Look people, from my perspective, I am not going to argue who's good and who's not, or what you think is good and what's not.
You say you like a techno party, that's fine, but that's not trance for me, I like what Armin plays even though you may call it cheese, I wonder what is it that you listen to, a banging techno ?
What are those super tunes that only you seem to know and I never heard of
And last why are you so amazed we like these DJs, if you don't consider it trance we do.
And as some guy pointed it's not all in music, it's also the party itself, if I may be biased a bit, Armin makes best party

ur getting djing confused with productions there.

Posted by gibbo on May-12-2004 23:31:

Armin has been playing such shit recently but i reckon he'll eventually have a good spell again not that he'll ever hit the form he was in around 2001 and early 2002 but he's bound to get better.
As for ferry he's not quite as good as he used to be for pure trance but he still plays a good set with some more variation which is needed. There is too many djs out there now who can just bang out ten trance tunes in an hour and its just average at least with some variation it makes him different and not just the same as every other trance dj.

AvB:
"But I think with ASOT, my radio show, the following I have, the sets Ive built, compilations, my album, I am pretty sure what I want in the future. And its not necessarily your average trance records; you can really feel a development in the market at the moment. A lot of people move away from the big break trance to the more kind of progressive, melodic kind of stuff, which is only natural and I think it is really good. So, we are really focusing on that with Armada as well at the moment; I just started a new label called Electronic Elements. We are releasing more of the left side, more progressive, deep kind of trance productions, its still trance, but the new 2004 sound."

I love the 2000-2001 sound too of course, but for now it's not happening.

I see your point, but if you compare Armin to Joof for example, in my eyes, its pretty clear to see whos playing proper trance and whos playing the cheese.

Still, if you like him fair play, it's your taste.

Posted by Fresh Prince on May-13-2004 00:03:

I don't have any problem with that, in fact for example if Joof was only DJ left playing proper trance as you say, I wish him good luck.
But what is really the problem here ?
Is it that Armin is more successful than him
that got this thread started ?
Is this thread sort of a call to him to play those tunes from 2000 again?
Armin has repeatedly stated that 2000ish trance is now over, we heard it, done with it, and now move on as he put it.
He plays the "present trance"

its not happening coz every ****** and his dog has got hold of a copy of reason and is churning out dubby air fairy armin trance, thats why. people stopped being orignal and it got boring quickly, now all people can do it make dubby tracks coz its easier to be "orignal".

maybe if people stopped making tunes which all sound the same then trance coudl be interesting again but at the moment its all very very samey and armin is the one who is playign it out to everyone.

Posted by sandstorm03 on May-13-2004 00:09:

im sorry but because of armin people like l-vee & mike are going down the tubes...

I think the problem is the way most, and Im not suggesting you here, Armin fans go on about him, and ASOT as if he was the be all and end all of trance music.
