Posting mp3's that can be streamed?

Alright...how can I post an mp3 on my website than can be streamed instead of downloaded?
I'd rather host it myself than use one of those music hosting websites, but I don't want to give my music away!?

Any thoughts? What do you fellas do?

i dont know how to make it stream, but if you dont want to give your music away why not just have parts of the track instead of the whole track, or have a lower quality version.

Even if you get a hi quality stream going, the track is still rippable if people really want it.

I think its possible to do a flash player and have the songs played that way.

It's possible with the real-audio ram format.

Here's what you do:

You upload an mp3 to a webspace. Then you create a playlist file (*.m3u) with the url of the mp3. Then you give the people the url of the m3u file and lo - it will stream.

what mystery said is better imo... buuuuuut, it's just that for those that know, you can see the url the playlist file is playing, and download it that way... but not everyone know's how even thou it's easy

Yes...that looks pretty cool. I wasn't wanting to necessarily stop people from downloading...I just didnt want to force people to have to download it to hear it.

Good suggestion.

And dbl is right... RealAudio?? PFFFT! I deleted that hunk 0' junk the day it weaseled its way on my 'puter!

Look for real alternative

http://www.free-codecs.com/download...Alternative.htm
All the good stuff from real-player codecs and software without the annoying crap and spyware.
Actually I forgot their was the real player been using the alternative so long.. (oh yes, it doesn't ask to register every 5 seconds)
