network problem (windows xp)
hoi
got a small problem
im sitting on a permanent lan with cave in the appartment.
suddenly the other day something happened on my computer, so i can't browse the network, and noone else can browse me.
but i still got inet, and i can ping the other ppl on the network, so there is some kind of connection between the computers on the lan, but browsing is fucked up from my comp :/
when i try to click the "entire MS windows network" icon i get:
"unable to browse the network. the networks is not present or not started"
if i try to "\\computername/ip" from cave's computer i get "no networkprovider would accept the given network path" or something like that
what i found out so far (which was different before) is that i can't change the "network id" in the "my computer" properties (right click my computer -> computer name"
the tab is simply unclickable.. which it was not before.. so anyone who knows how i might get it as it was again?
kinda tricky shit, never experienced something like this before.. hopefully someone knows(?)
thnx in advance
vermi
