What are we coming to?

2 nights ago, a police officer in my town was shot to death, and his throat was slit by a guy my age. i live in a small town of 17,000. this kid was trying to rob a medical center, and the officer saw him and tried to stop it. the kid slashed his throat just after the cop shot him in the leg. the kid then grabbed his gun and shot him 5 times. he then ran home, and his mother took him to the hospital and turned him in.

what the hell?! the guy was MY AGE!! and the cop he killed was only 39! he had a wife and two kids. It makes me freaked out because if i'm not even safe in a small town like this, whats the world gonna be like?

the kid's name is troy davey. he's 18, and is charged with 1st degree murder. he will be tried as an adult.

complain to the ppl that sign our laws.

most our criminal justice system is flawed and easy to work around.
times like these i think death row should be allowed in canada.

the really sad thing is that criminals are put into a nice little room and given free meals, and have the option to get a free university education as a form of "rehab"

what do you want to do with them then? let them rot and starve to death with they are tortured?

Canada ain't Turkey or some other barbaric country.

I'm not saying it should be. the meals and room i can understand. but people who are honest citizens and not murders have to fork out thousands of dollars for university or college, while they get it free. thats our justice system. is it as bad as some other countries? no. but still, that is not entirely fair.

I think we all have a pretty distorted view on jail. Obviously it is not a resort in there, although many criminals come from such a broken background that jail life is better than life on the street, or wherever.

I don't imagine that's the case with this kid though.

Posted by SKELETOR on May-17-2004 01:06:

how the hell did the kid steel his gun and slit his throat after he was shot in the leg??

Posted by djshan on May-17-2004 01:34:

well well... i wonder wat would happen to him if he was seventeen...

"oh canada, our home has the young offenders act, we stand on god for theeee."

plz correct me, did they get rid of this young offenders non sense or does it still exist?

maybe he killed the cop so that he could go to jail and that way wouldnt have to pay for his university

This kid will most likely get life. And serves him right.

Still though, how he managed to kill the cop after being shot in the leg is beyond me.

Posted by malek on May-17-2004 02:51:

are you jealous of his university degree??

BACHELORS IN WHATEVER

I want to read up on this free tuition a little, do you have any links (preferably from the government)? I wasn't able to find any.

Thanks

tell u the truth i know im gonna get flamedfor this but i feel bad for the kid...age 18 and hes prolly gonna get life..thats horrible..u dont know what happened to the kid..i mean supposedlyy he was good well mannered child who got straight A's and had never even been in a fight...u dont know what had happened or do not now what was going thru his minmd..u make it sound that he was a psycho serial killer...let me tell everyone one thing..sometimes shit happens and ur not thinking straight and react to it in the wrong way and by the time u realize what has transpired its already done... i mean shit he was prolly dosed up some heavy drugs..i mean he was robbing a medical center why else would rob a medical center for...he was prolly all fucked up came outside saw the cops and got freaked...

Exactly.

Those of you suggesting "tougher laws" for criminals are getting it all wrong. Even if he was 16, and the law still said that the punishment for this crime should be anal rape prior to being electrocuted, the result would have been no different. I hardly doubt he was weighing the pros and cons of his action at the time...

Now, tougher laws could potentially have some deterrent effects for career criminals, that's a totally different story.

Posted by Vivid Boy on May-17-2004 18:07:

not only that..but he got shot in the leg then hekilled the guy...think abt how u would react if u were shot in the leg by someone...it wouldnt matter if the guy was a cop or not if u get shot in ur leg ur thinking one thing "im fighting for my life at this point"....if anyone shot me in the leg id prolly shoot him back..thwy say first he slit the guys throat then he got shot in the leg...sounds to me like a cover up.;..my guess is he got shot in the leg attacked the officer slit the throat then got the gun off of him and killed him...i mean if the cop shot him in the leg did he drop the gun hand the gun over? like how did the kid get the gun...doesnt make it any better..but i like i said he prolly had a killer instinct once he was shot and was placed in a life or death situation...i mean its been proven the body can do some pretty incredible things when put in such a situation...i dunno something smells fishy abt the story...

Posted by malek on May-17-2004 18:09:

everyone has killing instincts deeply burried in onself... someone needs to push the right buttons to get them out in the open...

Posted by UWO Tranceaddict on May-17-2004 18:14:

Im pretty sure he Stabbed the cop in the throat and then ran .
The officer then emptied nine shells at him from the ground and fortunately hit him with one.

The kid had set it up, he was looking to kill someone that night.

Death Penalty

great analogy except oje problem..the cop died of gun shot wounds not because of the slit throat...there goes ur whole steven segal theopry straight out the window..alspo he was robbing a medical center he wasnt hiding waitng for a victim in a tree

LOL jokes

I don't believe we can base our opinion about what should happen to this kid by reading the opening post, which i assume many of us did.
To throw the death penalty at the kid without even hearing his story is as horrible as what he allegedly did.
