Best music to chill to......

I've really got into the Cafe del Mar series. Bought all the Volumen Series 1-10, all from the Dreams series, both Aria CDs, 20th Anniversary, Chillhouse 1 & 2 and 'The Best of' CD. I guess I'm addicted......I particularly enjoy the Chillhouse compilations

I also bought the Chilled Out Euphoria CD in an online sale for £7 new and love one mix in particular.

8. Everything But The Girl - Single
9. Tangerine Dream - Love On A Real Train

OK so mixing chilled music is basically cross fading in and out of stuff but I love this mix because it has a sample from a countdown for a rocket / Space Shuttle launch. I'm also a big fan of Tangerine Dream (being one of the pioneers of EDM in some ways) and I hadn't heard that particular version of Love On A Real Train before....

thoughts....

NB. Did do a search for 'Best Music to chill to' but since the threads were +1yr old I didn't want to be flamed for bumping old stuff...

Sasha- Wavy Gravy
Brain Eno- An Ending(I love this song)
Massive Attack-Teardrop
A couple songs from the top of my head. Although not defined as chill out tunes, these pretty much relax me.

Gramski feat. Anika Moa - Don't

Very nice track indeed, the video is pretty good too.

I just heard James Holden - Kaern, and it's absolutely beautiful.. One of those songs that really makes you .. feel. Strikes an emotional chord.

I really don't know how to put it, but it pretty much has me floored.

'Kruder & Dorfmeister', definitely.

Also stuff by 'Tosca' and 'Peace Orchestra' (which are Richard Dorfmeister's and Peter Kruder's independent projects, respectively).

I was asking for that

ourmanflint, Brian Eno and Ending is great! I remember being about 5yrs old and my Dad had that in his car CD changer, one of the first really old skool changers and it kept skipping on bumps. I then didn't hear it for years and then found it again

Lustral- Everytime (Way out west remix)t
This song is so special to me, i'll probably even like it over 20 years

Posted by A.J. on May-18-2004 13:20:

Fuck yes!!!! I was just about to post Lustral - Everytime (Way Out West Remix). That track is awesome.

I admit that i know nothing about breaks, so could someone please enlighten me. Would you consider the track to be "chilled breaks" or "ambient breaks" or something like that? If not, what would you call it, cos i love that type of music.

I rock the downtempo.

Boards Of Canada
DJ Krush
DJ Shadow
Four Tet
Massive Attack
Múm
Nightmares On Wax
Ulrich Schnauss

Either that stuff, or I go for some chilled out rock stuff. Pink Floyd of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. Great stuff.

Vigilante: Ulrich Schnauss is the best fucking ambient/chilled breaks producer around, and one of the best producers period. His two albums are absolutely amazing.

check out Balligomingo - Beneath The Surface
quote:
Fans of the celestial sounds of Enya and the lush trip-hop beats of Delerium and Enigma will love Balligomingo. Contrary to its Eastern-sounding name, Balligomingo is the baby of one Garrett Schwartz, a keyboardist-programmer who collaborated with a variety of musicians for Beneath The Surface. Though purely a U.S. and Canadian affair, the music does create an ethereal air of mystery and tension not unlike that of Asian underground pioneer Nitin Sawhney's recent Prophesy (though Balligomingo is far less profound). The buoyant, atmospheric tracks of Surface include various female vocalists who extend the songs' allure, a live band treated to sound like sweet computer rhythms, and a 15-piece orchestra. Most of the songs flow together, sustaining the album's dream sequence mood like a long summer rain. Occasionally, the vocals border on teen-pop, but mostly they blend into the foreground, helping to advance Balligomingo's lush world-beat-and-tone poetry muse.

it's also a great CD to make love to.
