Childless couple told to try sex

A German couple who went to a fertility clinic after eight years of marriage have found out why they are still childless - they weren't having sex.

The University Clinic of Lubek said they had never heard of a case like it after examining the couple who went to see them last month for fertility tests.

Doctors subjected them to a series of examinations and found they were both apparently fertile, and should have had no trouble conceiving.

A clinic spokesman said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?".

"We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."

The 30-year-old wife and her 36-year-old husband are now being given sex therapy lessons while the university clinic undertakes a study to try to find out if there are more couples with a similar lack of sex education.

well sex is really a natural instinct. I knew about sex b4 my parents told me and it wasn't off TV either. It's just an instinctive thing.

very strange to see that in a family that has a strong relegious background. Interesting to see that there is a case were relegion alters instinctive acts such as conciving children.

If these people couldn't figure out what unparented animals in the wild figure out they don't deserve to have kids...

it's called catholicism and utter oppression which still exists! but perhaps there were other circumstances ... what's the full story? how credible is this source anyways? ...i checked the local luebeck newspaper and there's no such story! ...

the weird thing is that the point of marriage and sex (in religious beliefs) is procreation. plus, the bible has a lot of sexual detail in it. i wonder what religion they are....?

u have not lived there and u have not been locked up in a catholic monastary boarding school. u don't know what these fucks are capable of. I DO! I have been through living hell being locked up for 8 years where i had no choice but to succumb to their own little anal internal anarchy! i know what brainwashing and turning you inside out they are capable of!
i am not talking about germany as a whole...but pockets of germany where these worlds do still exist, removed from the every day world!

Ok, so by your logic, because of the minority I should not consider the rest of it to be secular? Using your logic, I shouldn't consider Canada as much more than a big community of Mennonites. They may exist but they hardly form the majority or even government policy. Germany is a secular nation. If you got screwed over by a private school, you have my sympathy, but there's a difference between a government and a small group of civilians. And I was in catholic schools for most of grade school and all of high school so i durn well know about their techniques.

I guess these two never tried to assemble anything from Ikea.

Well obviously these extremely small, admittedly secluded areas aren't getting much in the way of coverage; meanwhile the Bible Belt in the USA is a much larger and far more famous section. Every day we hear about crap from these nut-jobs complaining about music/cards/movies corrupting the world, and they form a much larger number of people too. It gets to the point where some states actually refuse to teach evolution in school. Entire states. Not villages, but States!

Anyway the point is that I'm justified in saying that I'd expect to see something like that from the Bible Belt as opposed to Germany (which is by majority very secular) where obviously none of us have even heard of these tiny little villages; it's a matter of exposure.

thanks heidi. ... there's some who realize that it's not right what is done to them and who somehow manage to break free despite all odds, and receive justice in the end (closure) ... but there's some who are to this day messed up and will never learn to deal with the trauma. i was lucky! ... but it's taken me the last 10 years to come to terms with it all. ... so it's been made up for already by now ... time to look forward!
