Today the portuguese list of the 23 that will try to win (lol) the Euro 2004 was released. So, perhaps, it would be a good idea to gather all the list of the 16 countries that will try and obtain the ECH:

Have to say most ppl are disappointed with englands, simply cos of the following ppl in

gary & phil neville, nicky butt, Ledley King, Heskey, Vassell

in favour of

Alan Smith, Jermain Defoe, Scott Parker, Matthew Upson, Shaun Wright-Phillips etc who are all on form and much better choices imho

i miss drogba(i dont know if he's injuried or what)!
but still....wtf is wiltord doing in the French squad? i can't remember the last time he played for Arsenals first team!

absolute ownage of any other front line in the competition. Wether or not they use it to full effect will be another matter.

Del Piero, Vieri and Totti are perhaps the best attack of the Euro... although the two first are beginning to be a bit old for these competitions; nevertheless, from the line-ups advanced, they get my vote for winning the ECH.

... as for Portugal, we're happy that Scolari didn't call Vitor Baia, instead he gave the place to Benfica keeper Moreira (that will take part in the U-21 ECH too), ttaht deserves sooooo much to be in the competition, for helping Benfica reaching the last 16 of the UEFA Cup, the CL place and the Portuguese Cup. The rest, no real surprises... maybe Postiga, for not playing in Tottenham regularly, didn't think he'd deserve the spot.

IMO the frontline of Italy looks like a disaster waiting to happen, if there was no Totti. Vieri for me won't do jack if there are no corners and I can't remember Del Piero scoring a sitter. I would honestly play Di Vaio-Cassano,at least when they don't have the ball they can work for it. I'm surprised Trap didn't callup Miccoli, the guy had a fantastic season.

Saez will announce the Spanish Team on Thursday.

I notice Hugo Viana has been dropped from the Portugal squad.

since I've watched la liga for 2-3 years now im just gonna speculate at the spanish squad & see how close i get

And another youngster who i can't think the name of who got subbed on his debut as real were 4-0 down to sevilla at half time

that's why they've not won the league or champs league, valencia have players like Ayala who are really strong at the back and still have flair infront of them with players like Aimar & Vicente, it's all about the balance and real don't really have any, too lop-sided

That explains the Real part but surely Spain dont have a defensive problem like England?

There is a lack of good centre halves to play alongside Puyol imo, Del Horno of Bilbao should get to play left back now, he's a huge talent, Right back to Manuel Pablo or someone similar, but I dunno who i'd choose alongside Puyol at centre-back, there is a lack of them that I can think of, from the well known clubs at least

what about helguera?

what is wrong with the england defense apart from ferdinand missing. It looks pretty solid to me.

England will miss Woodgate & Rio imho, best to play 3-5-2 with bridge on left and hargreaves at right wing back, with beckham gerrard and lampard in the middle, and a better keeper than calamity james

Dang... the Dutch line-up gives me shivers...

Hugo Viana will be on the under 21 championship, as well as Moreira that might well be the only player that will play in the two competitions

Honestly I don't think it's that bad of a team. If only we had a true Left Back (which we do but Saez doesn't want one it seems ), then we could be a 100% solid all around team. With that midfield anything is possible though....
