Hi there, Welcome to TA.
Listening - I think the BPM is too high for this kind of track. The kick is too soft and has a slight reverb on it right? Change that. The connection between the two synths is abit wierd. The second pad is very nice. After a while it becomes abit boring, the perc are the same since the begining. You should work on your transitions as well, some sounds come in too fast. I think your main problem is variation and transitions, was and still is mine as well. The melodys arent bad. Keep working on it.
Cheers!

Satan (eek!)

Before I had the kick in your face to loud... so I turned it down like 8db. If you pump the track at 80db it sounds fine. I like the slight reverb boom on this kd for this track. This is supposed to be a mindless dance song, not really a listening beat. You are supposed to dance to it at 90-100db+

I don't like changing the drum lines up, because it sounds like a different song then if they are different at the end vs the start. Name one song that changes HH from the start to the end?

I guess the transitions could be smoother. It is not really that kind of song. This is not a smooth trance song like every other one here, this is a get up and jump from side to side song. It is supposed to slap you in the face rather then blend into the next section lol.

But I could always extend the builds and breakdowns and make them smoother, I feel you. Thanks for the feedback.

Hey!

The empty-room reverb on the clap and hihats are really annoying.
The vocal doesn't fit IMO. In the break you've put a real ugly sample, it's better off without!
Pads could use some kind of phaser, they get a bit dull, try to keep the public listening.
Melody on its own isn't bad, it's a bit dreamy, but I don't think the track was meant that way..
Kick lacks punch bigtime. I'm missing a bassline as well. For an uplifting track you'll need those.
Second break is better, flanger and change in synth. But it keeps on rolling the same tune after that, I'd suggest you'd bring more variety in it.
Try to bring some variety in the percussion. It isn't all about the kick-tssh-clap-tssh, you know...
The final part could be skipped IMO. It's a bit too noisy and busy, Don't like being slapped in the face namely

Hope you can do some with these comments.

So are you saying no reverb on the hh and clap? Or just a little bit I guess. I thought the vocals were catchy. Whatever on that. What kind of bassline should be in here, one that goes for a measure then switches to the next note I guess.

A little bit isn't bad , but you need to damp it bigtime. Experiment and try what's best..
Just begin with a simple '99 eurodance bassline, and follow the chords of the synths, then try to phatten it up.
The vocals need to be cut, i think they have a bit too much low and mid freqs.. but the sample isn't too good IMO

Cheers

what is this , 144 bpm? slooooowww it down man. The kick is well lame, so is the clap, i can send you a cool kick if you grab me on MSN! The percs are kinda weak overall. Some of the synths are uber cool, would sound beta as ambient music Basically rework the bass, and hold on... and some bloody bass, i cant hear any.

needs work

alex

I should load the other verison back I guess. The bass is so loud it hurts. But This version is to weak, so somewhere in the middle I need to adjust it. I am on aim so no msn.

Email me the kick [email protected]

Yah I do need to work on the perc. I just never really find it that important most of the time. I just try to get the lead going and establish that is what you should listen to. The bpm is 155 by the way.

I uploaded the mix 1 that has to much bass, so listen to that. I found the bass level way to high in my ride. I will remix the track again soon. Fat chance of it ever being an ambient track. You will also have me hard pressed to drop the bmp since I had to loop all those synths in audio + I made this whole song my just making the loops live. I remeber all the sounds though, and could just rewrite the song at 145bmp I guess.

All you like slow trance? Every song of this forum is like this abstract, laid back trance. This is something slightly different is my defense for keeping the bmp at 150 at least. I will try 145 and see if it sounds alright.

ill put a little pack of reccomended percs together and now and send it !

Thanks a bundle man. Part of the probelm with the bass is where I mix the bass doesn't hit at all. I mean a -15db bass probelm seriously. In the corner of the room it is +20db louder. I really need to read more on room acostics to figure out what the hell to do.

Posted by DJ Terraplex on May-19-2004 22:54:

hmm.. dont get that problem. I sit with a speaker either side of me the same distant apart and that works fine for me.

BTW: What programme are you using?

Posted by Flashback on May-20-2004 10:51:

I use cubase sx 2.0 I recently (today) changed my room and it is much better. The bass actually hits where I sit now, which is much better for mixing. I don't know exactly why it was happening, but it sure was.
