Anyone? Id like to hear how you got into it, what its like etc...

Ive had a few older models (50s) talk to me about it, but they started old, and id like to hear if anyone got in around their early 20s.

Basically im poor and dont have a job and want to sell my body for cash. Any tips@@

if your just looking for some quick cash and not a career just looking in the paper or posters. If you want a career, get professional pictures done. then take it to a modeling agency. Also sometimes they have calls at malls n stuff where a bunch of n00bs come and try out.

but watch out. I had one guy give me his card, some photo guy, named Carlos. The guy was wierd, he came up outta no where, felt my hair, and start complimenting me. said I'd like his work and I should call him to see it...

i guess he is legit, but I don't trust anyone named carlos.

I have two friends who model for Aberchrombie and Fich co.. they make hella bank.. How you get into it is first you need to find a distiguished photographer to get a portfolio made. You know shots of you all oiled up wearing pink thongs etc... Its good to know what makes you look good. Most people have one generic smile that they use for all photos' what you need to do is get a digital camera and a friend and have a lot of photo's taken of you with diff. poses and expressions and find those that make you look best. Then you go to get your portfolio made professionally. Afterwards the guy can usually point you in the right direction. Or you can try and contact the scouts themselves. In the case of my friends the portfolio maker showed the photo's to the right poeple. If you aren't getting that then you picked the wrong guy for the job. There are also constant talent scouting in large cities. So go on the net and look that up for large cities nearest you. In america those places would be Dallas, New York, Los Angeles. Places like colorado, and shit like that are big but isolated like its not really an international hub of sorts. More people=more chance of finding that perfect hottie for thier magazine or walkway. hope that helps

isnt it harder actually since there's a shit load of more competition in those two big cities?

in panama at least, it's easy to get modeling gigs. all you need to do is go to one of the agencies and they have modeling classes/courses in which you have be accepted in. after say a few weeks or classes (posing/runway,etc) you have a "graduation" which is your first runway show. a lot of local scouts come and they pick you and hire you.

sounds like you know quite a bit about this modeling stuff huh? experience in it by chance?

anyway, i just meant that in those large cities are all the major agencies if you were really serious...you'd probably want to talk to them...

elena is so hot

Posted by Orbax on May-19-2004 19:28:

I heard that if they tell you to take Classes, just walk away. Their agencies are just fronts for their classrooms and they are there to take your money, not make you any.

Orbax, maybe i can help put you through modeling school...how much for a rim job?

I've been in a magazine once . . . i was the male model for the issue, along with another college student from my university in the female part . . . she was a total babe . . . you can see her at www.collegecalendargirl.com, her name's Hillary, the november model. She's had a few gigs since then, for obvious reasons . . .

As for me, the only thing i got out of the whole deal was an amazing amount of ridicule from my friends and frat buddies. I'll never live this one down with them. They bought a horde of the magazines and have them stashed so they can whip em out whenever girls come over and make an ass out of me.

the modeling industry is tough (not speaking from experience). my bf's friend is a model and he has been in various A&F catalogs and flies back and forth from Miami and NYC all the time. he parties every night (like a rockstar if you know what i mean) and never knows what day (or even month) it is. that's just how it goes. and everyone in the industry is so damn snobby. we hang out w/ him and all his model friends in miami, and everything out of their mouth is about what label their clothes are and what designer they got to meet and who's who...bla bla bla. my bf and i just smile at each other when we're around all of them...it's entertaining.

www.onemodelplace.com might be good to just set up a portfolio and see how it goes from there??
