Monitors
anyone got any suggestions?
how much u looking to spend?
obviously nothing over the price of mackie 624
check out the ESI nEar 05 monitors...they are very cheap but sound better than tannoy, phonic, alesis M1, Audiophile BX8 and all other monitors I've listened to in that class
(in fact it wasn't untill I heard the genelec 1029 and the 20/20 bass that I could say I had found something better then the near 05)
Hey Raptor ok so nothing more than hr 624s. Ok well I would definently recommend the mackie hr624s, they are great, but depending on your room size u may need a sub. But if u want more power and a wider frequency range go with the Event TR8's or TR8xl's. I just ordered a pair of the TR8XL's and they are being shipped today. they are 600US a pair and have the best price performance ratio of any speaker. That would be my pick.
my personal advice...don't go with a sub, it's a pain balancing it so it doesn't give to much or to little bass
and an even bigger problem is that when you have gotten used to the balanced sound youre gonna want to crank the bass up more on it because it feels to little...
subs are only good for that final listeningreference so stay away from it as much as you can

Thanks for the info Vizay, at 150 quid I think I shall invest in a pair soon
yeah they are well worth the money and as I said, in my opinion they're in the same class ass tannoy without any doubts
but remember, listen to all monitors I've mentioned before you guys do any purchases as they might not fit everyone when it comes to sound...it's always your own ears they have to fit in the end
