are you tired of all those trance cliches? "Too Many Cliches" by Torley is for you!;)
I've been "lurking" for awhile but very much up-to-date with what's happening in the trancey world of TranceAddict. Decided to have fun, you know the story -- committed it to a track a lil' while back (hey, that rhymes).
You'll get a smile on your face after listening to this. The name makes it painfully obvious what it's about :
"Too Many Cliches" by me, Torley (aka aspergian)

Yes, feel free to go "trancespotting" on that. It's intentional. Ideal for both the trance rookies and the jaded veterans who can spot an arpeggiator (or whatever) an acid line away. Props to the masters of the artform, I respect them.
*grins*
In a slightly more serious vein on the flipside -- if you're curious -- something hypnotic and melodic and full of spark! *does anime mecha dance*
Just a clip but it's cute and shiny!
I am a disciple of the "progressive regressive" sound, or "progreg" for short
*wink* But when it comes to McTrance, it's an occasional treat. Don't Super Size Me constantly, I need my leafy greens and microwaved eggs! Yikes!
Je suis unorthodox so don't worry about comments or anything; but if it made your day a little more fun, then fantastico!! The world needs more love, more happiness.
Thank you graciously . . .
PLURR (archaic but nevertheless true)
More tracks and my "techno matter and anti-techno matter" blog at: http://www.torley.com
your unorthodx introduction text promises more than the track itself.
Sound quality should be better of single sounds ( the leads ).
Mixdown could be better, e.g. the reveresed cymbals seem to be too loud. Musical composition is interesting lol...lots of musical quotations from atb to mr vain and some other dance artists...
It 's somehow a mixture between hardy hard silver surfer and the sound of a demo, a company would use to introduce the capabilities of their new software synth .
But anyway, at last something different and refreshing here on TA. So many semi Pauls, and semi Armins here around.
Trancevision
Thank you Trancevision. That's what I was hoping you would say: and that's clearly correct.
BTW, the reversed cymbals are meant to be loud. Why? It's obvious isn't it
?
I have an unorthodox method all my own. Things are definitely going to be different, as I hear music differently (I have Asperger's Syndrome). I have some more "serious" tracks on my website if you're curious, but I assure you I do (just about) everything in the spirit of fun.
Thanks for listening!
agree with al trancevision said. couldn't have said it better
and btw... what's Asperger's Syndrome????
I like this alot
very fun to listen too
could be a bit better soundquality, especially the synths could use a bit more reverb and delay imho, but nevertheless, damn nice
cheers!

| It's important to remember that the person with AS perceives the world very differently. Therefore, many behaviors that seem odd or unusual are due to those neurological differences and not the result of intentional rudeness or bad behavior, and most certainly not the result of "improper parenting". |
Thanks you dbl and Smekbar for your comments... and hello again Trancevision! Thanx. Here is another good link to info about Asperger's Syndrome... it's not complete, as research into the condition continues!

(it doesn't want to UBB link right because of the ' )
Thanks for the suggestions.
To put it simply, I can be eccentric but I'm friendly

This is tranceaddict, and youve just made a trance (the way it is @ the mo) diss track
go away
I like trance the way it is!
OMIGOSH!!!
DJ Terraplex, no, it was not a trance diss track at ALL.
Quite the opposite. Note how I said:
"Props to the masters of the artform, I respect them." and with a friendly smile too!
There's a story here.
I like trance (check my posts out, it's why I'm here)
Your name sounds familiar, were you on mp3.com once?
Yes, I was! Were you?
i listened and didnt like
you havent really progressed, this sounds like dodgey shite from years back. Its verging on sounding like a gameboy tune.
Didnt enjoy!
I didn't like the way you said that -- I felt it was rude, and not particularly insightful. Even if I didn't like someone's track, I would not call it such names. What would you have done if you were to have fun with trance cliches, tell me?

Alex, first off, please allow me to explain:
-I ENJOY trance cliches, as I alluded to above
-I am just having fun
-I have a weird sense of humor but this was NOT done in any way to make a mockery of trance. FAR from it. My respects to everyone I referenced in the track. I'm sure you could ID them all.
-I have done some other tracks with... say, more esoteric elements. Oh, this is just one track.
So, I am not the other people bashing trance. I am far from a basher. I am very deeply involved and appreciative of the style on the whole and... thanks for clarifying your part.

Thank you graciously starglider!! I think you explained it better than I could. Wow, that long huh! That's cool. Thanks a lot. I've actually been lurking on here for ages but I chime in time to time. This is a place for me to learn a lot and hear insights from others around the world, some very knowledgeable experience to be learned from here. Unfortunately there are more flame wars (in Main discussion) than I'd like to see, which is quite redundant after awhile. But that's life.
All my life I've tried to hard to fit in but alas, I can only be me. Which is all I should claim to be anyway. We're all unique individuals, human beings in this boat of life...
haha, I loved the track. Heard a lot of melodies I knew.
That sounded like a great idea coming to life. Maybe next time u can do soemthinh for rap.
Shouldn't be to hard. "Phat Bass" with some big tits and nice ass and a Mercedes in the lyrics, and ur set
Thanks Elujin!
Haha... rap... didn't Chris Rock do one of those? Good idea.
Can't forget the MB, with the chrome wheels and whatnot, and the T&A and hydraulics... ha ha... or it could turn into "Too Many Cliches (breakbeat edition)" yikes. Let's see, it could feature:
-the weowweowWEOW "hoover" bass as heard in Hybrid
-strings or classical arrangement over breakbeats, also as heard in Hybrid
-the simple but pounding crushed acoustic kits as heard in Adam Freeland
-something from DJ Icey!
-a rapper (at 130 bpm) or a simple catchphrase repeated over and over, filtered
-stutter edits in the style of BT or Andy Page or... many other prog breakbeat tracks!
-DJ Hyper stylish acid lines
-Plump DJs squeaks beeps and coughing/laughing noises
-turntable scratching
-etc.

haha ya, so true.
Im very new to trance, so needless to say i didn't get any of the references.
That aside, i really liked the song.
I found the intro to be a bit long, but i doubt thats really a problem.
Im trying to think of any helpful critisim i can make of the song apart from that, but nothing comes to mind.
In my opinion, almost perfect.
Oh, and i had a listen to the songs on your site, as well.
Very nice stuff.
Elujin: yuppers
Mast-of-fish: Thanks again. I appreciate it. The intro is meant to be that way, it's another type of cliche... i.e. an exaggerated bar-count lead-in. I hope you enjoy your continued adventures into trance and beyond. Thank you very much.
honestly i didn't like the track at all. maybe this is your style but sounds way too cheesy. i can see that you wanted to put together a collection of cliches but what's the point of it?
It's my style, and one of many styles I do, paranoik0. Thanks for listening -- as for what's the point, well... there have been a lot of great other things done in trance. This, to my knowledge, allowed me to express myself uniquely. "Way too cheesy" is EXACTLY what I'm going for, because it makes you ask questions, like:
1- why cheesy?
2- why is cheese a bad thing? (cheese the food is certainly not)
3- why the stigmas and terms we attach to fun?
4- can a cliche ever un-cliche itself?
5- why is something now cliche, once something fresh and so daringly new?
Even if you didn't like it, maybe it made you laugh or consider something else. Sometimes I have been prone to take trance too seriously, and then some days, I just zoom back and look at the big picture, and I'm like WHOA... *smiles*
Hello. This shall be my first comment ever in the Tranceaddict forum. I simply have to comment on this song...
The first time I hear this song, I immediately burst into laughter.
You've taken the most common, overused trance music elements and slap them together in one big original compilation. (Very, very clich indeed!) I applaud you for such a sneaky approach.
