Question Who hates all the political threads??

Ok...to be fair, I understand that polictics are important and yes, everyone should vote.

However do personal agendas need to be repeated in several simular threads?

So what you can express you obvious opinion in at least 4 seperate threads and I can't ask one question in one?
How does that work?

At least you get my point...

Posted by Jayx1 on May-21-2004 21:21:

as music has several different layers to the same topic. So does politics...

this is a very political moment in Canada. If you dont want to read it.. dont click on it.

otherwise its alllll goooooood

The difference being that they are different subjects for which they all have their own place.
This is exactly why Swamper created a 'Political' forum; for a lot of people like myself, who don't necessarily want to be inidated with a part of my life I consider an escape.
I read the headlines and see the news all the time.

I understand it's easier to get attention in a local forum and I know I "don't have to click if I don't like it" but the real question is; why so many threads about the same, "I hate the Liberals" banter in like a span of 2 days?
It's just all annoying really.

I hate all the complaining about "useless" threads.

Posted by kwongandy on May-22-2004 00:41:

The political forum is full of anti bush threads and poly sci know it all students who are not open to valid debate, good luck getting feedback in there.

How many topics in this forum are not related to trance.

it's not the fact that they're non-music, it's the fact there ARE SO GOD DAMNED MANY OF THEM.

but them seem to be dying down now.... so I guess it doesn't really matter.

Posted by StereoPrincess on May-22-2004 08:40:

i hate them.

especially when good threads turn to politics too.

like does it have to be mentioned in every goddamn thread? NO.

My next poll

Are you one of those poeple who like to ruin it for other by clicking on links you have no interest in? And then just tell everyone they suck or something along those lines?

0 yes
0 no

Like come on, you don't like it, don't read it.
Your choice to be ignorant to polotics. but if enough of us weren't, we could actually change something in our gov't

Requesting that a forum that is primarily devoted to music, the local club scene and related subjects not be flooded with political threads does not equate to 'ignorance about politics'.
If I want to discuss and/or debate politics, no offense, but TOTA would not be my choice of forums to do it in.

Posted by Elmo-On-XTC on May-22-2004 15:36:

there is a section of tranceaddict's forums which is titled Music Discussion. Now a political discussion in the Music Discussion would be naturally a little out of place.
The Toronto regional section is to discuss, yes, the local trance/edm scene, as well as topics which concern Torontonians. If the tranceaddict forums are only meant to me used for trance discussions then pm swamper to remove the humour, sports, political, gaming forums etc because they don't relate to trance. Political forums is better for discussing politcs which concern a larger number of people. I really don't think anyone from Florida will want to read about how we can't smoke as of June 1st.

i know people won't understand

Posted by JRinger on May-22-2004 16:59:

^^ you're partly right (ie. that this forum covers other 'off-topic' stuff), but you're also partly still missing the point....I really dont think the objection is the existence of the political threads, but rather the sheer NUMBER of them started lately (especially given that they've really just been vehicles for JAYX1 to spout anti-liberal rhetoric).

take a look at the threads started in the last week and a half:
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=183842
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=183459
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=183026
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=183257
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=183267
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=182746
http://www.tranceaddict.com/forums/...threadid=181378

ps> the smoking ban is clearly not 'off-topic'....its very relevant to this 'scene'

Posted by Elmo-On-XTC on May-22-2004 17:14:

Ok i see your point. especially the pretend your a political leader thread

a few of those threads turned into a fairly good discussion though. Some people (not just Jayx1) will start useless threads regardless of the subject matter...just got to know which ones are worth replying to instead of bumping up useless threads by saying 'this is a useless thread'

and I wasn't saying the smoking ban was offtopic, i was just saying it should stay in the regional forums (which it has) instead of bringing it to a political forum. maybe it was a bad example

Posted by Jayx1 on May-22-2004 17:32:

this is the mosty useless thread of them all...

Posted by Jayx1 on May-22-2004 19:29:

funny how my "useless" political threads are the ones that are still active from last week while most of the other ones are gone. And i havent even been the one bumping them up..

I think the people who dont like them should just not click on them.

You all remind me of those annoying people who tried to ban "married with children" way back when or Howard Stern.... If you dont like it... DONT FUCKING WATCH/LISTEN/READ!

Thanks and have a good day
