How was Cream ?
To all the @#$%?&* who went to Cream , how was it ?
well since you asked.......
it was pretty fuckin awesome...i've never heard such good music throughout 1 night! christian smith was pretty good..very hard...pete tong was a bit of a dissappointment...dave seaman played a pretty solid set including flight 643....in my opinion tall paul stole the show among the brit djs...he started off hard and then ended in trance with urban train and other uplifting tracks....lafleche wasn't the same as usual however most people loved him as usual....timo maas was fuckin sick! hard hitting bass tracks as he is known for and Misstress barbara in my opinion was the best dj of the nite blasting the hardest funkiest techno i've ever heard....i missed anthony pappa and maus but i heard they weren't special anyways
btw, 514 didn't allow gum and glowsticks at the entrance and i think they re-sold glowsticks they confiscated at the door and priced them at 5$ each......pretty sad
here is my take on cream :
It kicked ass. VIP section rocked with lots of couches and plenty of space to dance. Well worth the extra 30$ considering you get to dance 10 feet away from the DJ and see exactly everything he does.
IMO Christian Smith sucked ass, i just don't like his style. He seemed happy with his set when he walked off and him and Tong had some fun shooting the shit in the booth.
Pete Tong had a hard go at it for the first 30 minutes. He had a look on his face like what the fuck am i going to play to get these people going? He finally found some good tracks in his record box and people started moving. He stayed on a bit longer than scheduled looking to push the crowd higher but couldn't do it. I thought the last hour rocked but he wasn't playing the fast hard stuff MTL likes.
Seaman played a hard fast set with some classics. He was really into it and feed off the crowd's vibe. The crowd was eating it up.
Nothing like his GU album though which is all i knew about this guy. One guy was freaking and going nuts to a tune and Seaman pointed at him and thrusted like he was going to fuck the guy up the ass. The guy loved it, hillarious.
Tall Paul was my favorite. Played some progressive, hard trance and trance. He layed down FLigh643 and the place was rocking. That made me wish for Tiesto on this night, OCT 5th ain't that far away..Paul was definitely feeding on the crowd five and was really enjoying himself. Lafleche came to the booth a good 30 minutes before his set and Paul didn't seem too happy about sharing the platform but then focused on the crowd again and keep the tunes coming.
Lafleche came on and i took off. It was 5 and home (ottawa) was 2 hours away. They moved Timo up to 6:30 (from 10 which was good) but i was too tired to kill the next 90 minutes waiting for Lafleche to get off so i hit the road.
The party was really well organized and tremendously well run. The searching involved looking into your wallet and smokes but nothing extra besides that. I had taped my E between my toes just in case ( yes it was wrapped with plastic rofl)
All in all it was a great party!
Rumors where going around that Sasha is going to be the headliner at Freaky...We will see!
seb fontaine is headlining freaky.....my friends got the flyer on the way out
I aint gonna waiste my time critisizing cream.
514 has done enough filthy games to rob people with those stupid policies.
Overall, I thought that the party was really good. The setup was amazing, although there could have been a few more bathrooms so that people wouldn't have to wait so long in line. Besides that, I think the positioning of everything was awesome, there was more then enough dance space, the dj booth was spectacular, and the hallway outside was a nice touch of fresh air.
The music was great I found, Pete Tong seemed to be struggling at first, but I found he played some good tracks and got the crowd moving a bit. My favorites for the night were definitely Anthony Poppa and Maus, but that could also be because I only got my real burst of energy early in the morning. Due to uncontrollable and unfortunate circumstances, I was exhausted from when I arrived inside 12:00 a.m., till about 9:00 in the morning. But I definitely got my groove on quite nice in the morning, and got to try out my new electric glowstix
I don't know if anyone saw them, they were the blue and green ones and the color spiraled around. I thought it was extremely gay of 514 to not allow glow sticks inside, wtf?! Make us buy them at 5$ a piece, it's not enough that we have to pay high prices on the tickets and water? I'm sure they didn't need the added profit from the glow sticks, and letting everyone in with there own would have contributed to making it a better party.
Hmm, okay, well I have to say that I Extremely enjoyed Maus's set, and hopefully she'll be going to more 514 parties, and they'll be putting her on a little bit earlier in the night, because I think she can really get the crowd hyped up and hoping around.
Overall, I would have to give the party a 9/10, atmosphere was great (way better then Oasis), music was great, there was enough space (it wasn't ever over crowded), and even though the party started for me on a very down note, I still found it to be absolutely awesome, so now I'm looking forward to see who they're booking for Freaky, cause thats going to be my bday party
If anyone hasnt written a review thats gone, if you have the time, please do, Im really interested in hearing what everyone thought about the party.
rizzler: if you look up, i wrote that seb fontaine is headlining freaky
my 2 cents on cream
music- bangin, no complaints from what i was there to hear
setup- tha shiznit, the dj booth and screens were a good touch and a good change
venue- alright- i prefer molson centre or anywhere that you can sit and chill being comfortable
514- bastards, i hate givin those pricks my money, they took my gum and glowsticks and there was no apples at 7 in the morning
overall it was really well done, i just didnt like that there seemed to be a growing number of rookies and ginos, hey bro, where did you get dat crazy glowstick, the atmosphere seemed different, maybe its just me
peace
i find last year's events were far better, however cream 2001 was really an awesome party and its too bad we lost swirl for stupid reasons because that would have been the best 514 event this year.
as dark man x said, 514 are the biggest scammers in montreal......too bad they throw the best parties, with the best music, the best venues, the best lineups and the most hotties.........ah well....i guess we get what we pay for!
Dark Man: were you talking about my glow sticks that had spiraling color? One was green and the other was blue? I have to find the site again, I might actually start to import those. They're amazing!!! When I find them, I'll tell you where, or if I'm importing them, they'll be a bit cheaper because shipping on them was a bit expensive, especially if youre only ordering 2-3.
DelStar: I know Seb is going to be headlining but I'm still more interested in who else is going to be there, and as you must know with 514, the headliners often change. I've heard that Sasha and Digweed are doing a North American tour around that time, so I'm kind of just hoping that.....
I liked last years Oasis better, and I didn't go to Connected, but I was told that last years killed it, as for Cream, it's hard to call, but I like this one more, it was a great party, definitely had a great atmosphere, and less deception then the last Cream. This one they only scammed us of our Glow Sticks and Gum, but at least they didnt change where the party was supposed to be! For last years Cream, the only reason I spent 70$ on a ticket, was because I thought it was going to be on the field, and all they're advertising suggested it would be, bastards!
514 is fucked up, they'll do something to redeem themselves, and then just go do stupid shit that totally cancels out the redemption. Like it was stated before though, they're the one's with the $$ and connections to throw the big parties, with big names, and yes, an insane amount of hot women
I wasn't going to go but then the last minute i decided to go and actually was able to get tickets in Ottawa. That was cool. The line up at the biggining scared me but I got in just in time for Pete Tong who didn't impress me too much. I had no idea of the line up even because I didn't know that Tall Paul and Mistress Barbara were spinning. I thought Tall Paul's intro was one of the best that i have heard in a long time. "Let me take you on a tour of the twelve inch". The party was really good and i thought that the security was going to be worse than it actually was. they were only selling blue glowsticks at the place so they told us not to light our green sticks but just to keep them wrapped. whatever. the gum wasn't allowed because it was a tennis court and they never covered the ground so they didn't wanna damage it. I mean minimal damage. anyways, Timo Maas was wicked and so was Mistress Barbara. I just love watching her go. Anthony Pappa was definitely awesome too. I just wished that i never had to drive back to ottawa that day. Harsh.
Yeah, driving back to Ottawa must have really sucked :P
One of my friends had to do it, he started going to school there 2 weeks ago, so unfortunately it didn't leave him too much time to chill after the party before having to head back to Ottawa.
They let you go in with your glow sticks?
I was supposed to be going down with so many, I was so prepared, but my brother and a few friends went to the party at 9:30, they called my house from inside and told a friend that was there, that they weren't letting in any glow sticks, so I didn't bother bringing any with.
