OFFICIAL REVIEW: Way Out West
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
We where supposed to start this night by going to see a movie but damn traffic in montreal is depressing.
so we went to eat some chinese, and then we went to st-soulspice (never remember how to write it), we arrived there and funkenlouie was there with some friends and his gf. after a little bit there he got some shots for me and mazen. (thank you very much funken
)
then it was time for Way Out West.
first off i don't think breaks are good to listen when you are about to get to a point of being drunk :P hehe cause you need something faster.
nick and warren did a nice liveact wich im still not very happy with because it consist of 2 laptops, 2 midi controllers, turntables and mixer. so not really a liveact
. but still was nice to see the singer inside the booth wich i think was Tricia Lee Kelshall but im not sure.
after a while it was time for their dj set. it was ok i guess. the usual progressive.
we left early, but anyway it was an ok night.
JOHN
you bailed on us!
was the vibe nice!?!?!

Did they play Anything But You, Killa or Melt? Damnit, I'm so upset I missed it.
it was a beautiful night.
the music was perfect, i spent the night lost inside it.
Thanks for the reduced funk, you're the man!

Auditory orgasms all night long, couple real ones as well
.
Crunchy bass, titty twisting high hats, and sexually healing melodies left me leaving ARIA one satisfied man.
I dont think I have ever danced with such a smile on my face.
Thanks Louis for the hook ups, nice chatting with you.

Wow I see same people went Saturday night too! You must be nuts...Gielen killed my legs
I was out of service for like 2 days...had to move to South shore too...f**ked up
p.s. My review of gielen's night is posted...
So somebody enjoyed it then! I think they're booking this semi-chilled show in the wrong venues. It sounds like they need to add at least 1 more live element (perhaps a drummer) and find a concert hall type venue.
That being said, it sounds to me like some of you "felt" it.
i don't know about Aria because I wasn't there.
At the Guvernment, the room emptied pretty fast when WOW started... not because they sucked or anything, its because of Max Graham's energetic (and excellent) set!
people were brought to a level and they didn't want to come down from it, so they just left to other room where Mauro Picotto was spinning.
its the club managers duty to arrange his schedule in accordance with WOW live act.
You raise a good point...so Max Graham opened? I guess he got a little carried away for a warm-up DJ.
I think Mark Oliver opened, then Max Graham, WOW then Hybrid...
that lineup is pretty fucked up if you ask me, they don't fit together at all, hehehehe
hehe, well, I know 3 of the 4 artists and they all tend to DJ similar sounds (prog house/breax), but the WOW live PA is a bit of the black sheep, methinks. Maybe the 1-hr WOW Live PA should've gone on after Mark Oliver, followed by Max Graham, Nick/Jody and Hobird. Hell, perhaps a 3rd WOW room would've been more fitting.
vinnie i did not in any way think they are bad. they are an amazing act and their tracks are amazing, i got most of their releases. but it just doesnt make you wanna dance. it just puts you in a state of chillness :P melodies are very nice. and the singer was awesome, at least they got people moving on their dj set. wich is what warren knows how to do and do it very very well.
i dont think that vinnie is saying that WOW are bad... what he means is that not everyone is fond of their chill act and that it should be taken into consideration when they're booked somewhere.
Aye, exactly what Malek said, BUT with one sidenote, I think they can bang it out too (see "Killa"
).
THIS ONE'S CALLED...........KILLA!!
