Guys,

This Tuesday I am taking my naturalization exam. Please keep your fingers crossed for me. I know all the questions, but still - an exam is an exam and one could get nervous. I know I always get nervous, soo... wish me good luck

Peace & Love

I am still on my Green Card. I think I am pretty happy with that.

Don't worry if you forget stuff on the Constitution or who the 26th president is.

99% of american citizens don't know. Neither will you over time. Nor will you or I care.

Welcome to the melting pot.

The 26th president is Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt

good luck! I'd probably fail that exam, and I was born here. If you know it, you'll be fine.

Well, and the verdict is... I passed!!!
But who wouldn't? The questions they asked me were so simple one has to either live under the rock for last 200 years or be a total moron... like Highmay said, I could pass it in my sleep...

I'll be sworn in on July 1... YEAH!!!
Can't wait to get my passport and I certainly can't wait to VOTE!!!

Thanx for keeping your fingers crossed for me

peace & luv

where are you from that you werent a citizen before? oh, poland. nm that.

my before has had a green card for like 20 years and refuese to get citizenship. i cant blame him. the only thing he cant do here is vote, but his EU citizenship still allows him to work there if i get transferred to europe. it's a good deal, really.

I'm applying for citizenship in October when I turn 18. I've been on a Green Card since 1991.

I don't really want the US citizenship, but it will expedite travel plans in the future when I don't have to worry about procuring visas.

nope, not yet. I'm still 100% Lebanese at this point.

naturalization tests are wank. They need to make sure you know all the things on that test, when over 1/2 the natural born Americans don't even know the stuff

Posted by djbounce on May-26-2004 03:31:

Man...
Speaking of the questions on the exam... they were IDIOTICALLY easy... To the point where I'd say it's easier to become a citizen than to get a visa to enter this country...

Anyway... now that I will be eligible to vote...

LET'S KICK BUSH OUT!!!!!!!!

Posted by Greedy on May-26-2004 03:42:

word. Congrats man!

maybe i am a bit of an idealist, but i think that acquiring a certain countries citizenship should be done only if one REALLY believes that said country would be his/ her home country.

The point I am trying to make is that I believe it to be really hard to say that "if the USA is going to attack my country of birth, I will go fight for the USA, not the other country."

Therefore, I can completely understand that your 'before' wanted to keep his citizenship, even though he has had a green card for a long time.

lol, i guess i cant type. his case is also a little different cause coming from an EU country he doesnt really need visas to travel like what that other guy was talking about.

I personally do not feel that I'll go back to Poland (my native country) to live permamently - even thought I regularly visit it.

Chance of Poland going to war against USA is ZERO. As a matter of fact, Polish government and Polish population currently considers USA to be even greater ally than the European Union is.

Well, the great thing is I can hold dual citizenship (my native country's law allows it). If I didn't have that option, I'd simply renew my green card every 10 years.
Another benefit of American citizenship - besides being able to vote and travel with American passport to almost every country in civilized world without need of a tourist visa - is the fact, that creditors will always give you a little lower interest rate on the purchase of the house or car
