It is just a bunch of delays in one interface, the Tap refers to one delay line. 6Tap = 6 delay lines.

Mac or PC vsts? Try http://www.kvr-vst.com/ for all your plugin needs.

A decent plugin will have decent presets.

Keep your expectations low and you won't be disapointed...

Am I right in thinking you can use multi-tap delay for setting the delay to one channel, or alternating channels?

Vaguely relevant question...can anyone recommend any delay/chorus/reverb type software plugins ? Preferably non-free ones (Unless of course there are decent free ones about) as I'm looking for quality. The Cubase SX ones, although I've only briefly played with them, seem a bit poor - but then that could just be the user

I know that the waves multitap delay is very good quality... However, it is sold I think as a part of a group of excellent plugins (waves bundles) but it costs an arm and a leg so unless you have cash to burn...

I've actually got the waves bundle somewhere.

I'll try it out 2nite. Cheers Kwlness

there is retrodelay, which is free and pretty nice. i use ohmforce ohmboys delay all the time - some ppl think it's a bit too clinical, but i like it a lot, since it has two delay lines, multimode resonant filter, and lfo's assignable to ANYTHING.
waves have a multitap delays (1tap, 2tap, 4tap, 6tap) , but it is a part of their bundles, and pretty pricey, so check their website. some people also really like psp84 delay, and i still didn't figure why
reverbs? hm. the waves' trueverb and rverb are pretty good, as they say, but there are some good free ones like ambience.
