Too much Drama in Seattle...

So, I was browsing my local forums on nwtekno, and I started reading on this one forum, and these posts start forming about promoters threatining eachother over parties. Didn't really care to read the rest since there were like 4 pages after that proboably full of drama and finger pointing. I'm just going to stay off there for about 2 weeks, grab some popcorn, and come back to read everything for some late night enjoyment. Just thought I'd share this.

It's just sad because if there are too many problems, then out of town dj's would probably reflect it as being not a good place to come. That party this Friday doesn't look like it is going to be supported too well because of the problems, so the headliner Rob Real doing his live set is not going to see that great of a crowd or something. I don't know. As I say, I'm going back to those threads in two weeks for entertainment purposes.

im just annoyed that we dont have any truly devoted venues to this sort of thing.

^Yes to this. We do have some really good locals, but there are some dj's that literally do a circle around Seattle becuase no one books them. Most of which have never been to the NW. Example- Carl Cox, James Holden, Marco V, etc.

Premier? If you think booking PVD and Armin makes Seattle a premier destenation, well then look at Vancouver. Armin and PVD don't make a city a premier location for electronica.

I dunno. Seattle seems to be an odd little bubble (NW in general). I know some locals like "The Blender" hehe and so forth. They are more small time. I usually get to know these guys at house parties... But BC tends to have more events lined up. I mean, I know I can hit something almost every night here, just not the same atmosphere here that exists in a lot of other places. I dunno. Ive lived here all my life, and it may be that talking, but Seattle just feels different in a lot of ways than basically anywhere else hehe.

Eh... Not sure what you've seen... but Vancouver has shite for shows, and none of the clubs there have decent sound systems.

We don't just get Armin in Paul in Seattle. We've had The Crystal Method, Edgar V, Anne Savage, Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Blank and Jones, Infected Mushroom, Sasha and Digweed, VNV Nation, and a host of others... not to mention some of the popular drum and bass artists... all in the past 12-18 months. We get our fair share of traffic. More than any other city in the region, at least.

And "The Premiere" is an old warehouse in downtown Seattle that a couple of guys converted into a club. Bangin' loud speakers, there.

I find it sad, that it's not enough that the government eagle-eyes (RAVE ACT?!) EDM events, but that infighting and this sort of divisiveness further breaks things down. The bad vibes spread and word get around... no likey this kinda drama

i've known the person who had his life threatened since i was 14 (9 years ago). he is not making this shit up. he only posted it because kim (groovinkim, who runs nwtekno) kept trying to get him to post it, because it's important. i personally have always avoided get down productions since i frequented their first party at their "get down mansion", which is lovingly referred to in bellingham as "the crack house", many years ago. how would you feel if you were told "your life or your party", and the same was said to your girl? those of you saying this is petty bullshit need to think about what's actually going on... erik did NOT post that stuff to get random attention, nor to needlessly soil the reputation of another company (though it should be obvious from the support he's getting that it should happen anyways).

and on another note, posting about what you consider to be forum drama on another forum is just causing drama yourself, and is lame.
