Looking for Advice on New PC purchase for Production Studio

I am trying to build a decent studio in my bedroom. Currently, I have a Dell 4600C and come to find out it isnt very friendly when it comes to upgrades and add-ons. So, I think i am getting rid of it. I have just purchased a Edirol PCR 50 midi keyboard and have the current version of Reason. Apparently the USB ports on the Edirol are not compatible with the Dell's USBs. I would like advice on what PCs I should be shopping for, including pros/cons, what other people have, etc. Thanks for the help.
