Spad - Add More (first tune, feedback needed) (OFFLINE)

[OFFLINE]

I made this a couple of months ago but didn't have the internet to post it anywhere

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, especially any mastering tips. I'm pretty sure it's going to sound quite muddy on a decent soundsystem because my setup is shit.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

Ta muchly.

edit: first person to identify the vocal sample gets a gold star.

Quality work Spad! I really enjoy listening to this kinda stuff.

The tune has such a nice atmosphere and the percussion is very good. I don't think that harsh buzzing noise really fits in so well though - maybe if you softened it up a bit, added a bit of reverb it wouldn't stand out so much. Even with that said, I really really enjoyed it and will be listening to it a lot more.

...and you better be working on something new dammit.

wow this is really good for a first tune, good for any tune i'd say. nice atmosphere and sounds. the bass could be a bit more bassy, maybe a bit deeper

keep it up

Who's with me on this........... not at dis-similar to Aphex Twin?

That is fantastically good.

Wink whats wrong with me?

I dunno..Im not gonna comment because I must have missed something.
How would you classify this genre...cuz it aint trance! I was waiting for the melody and it never happened. LOL..in fact, I dont think anything happened!
Kudos for nice FX and production values though!

*sigh* back to my cave.

Wow, thanks I'm genuinly surprised the feedback's been this good

Digital Aura - I dunno how you'd classify it. Definetly not a club track (maybe a queue-to-get-into-club track).

Cheers everyone.

This is well decent. Agree on the bass, i can barely hear it, but apart from this element, you got a quality sounding peice going off. Little bit muddy yes, but for your first tune this is understandable.

Keep it up !!

good produced track, very moody and thats the things I like very much, but one thing that I don't like is the intro, try to replace the snares or the percussion with something else, something more soften...this is intro is too hard for the whole moody mix....anyway...good work.

absolutely fucking amazing mate, what did you use to make it?
only thing lacking is a filthy fucking bassline

Posted by Jay M on Jun-01-2004 17:30:

Hey

Opening percs sound very lofi and the phaser on it sounds pretty preset-ish. But it sounds logical, the percs sound like mine the first time I used fruity! The extra hihats at 0.27 are good, gives it all more energy. Pads are nice. Nice atmosphere you gave to this track. Productionwise is not so good, it sounds very muddy. Try to work on that with eq and all. This would fit in a nice large room with sofas to lounge away, but first all the sounds need to be more crisp.

For a first attempt, not bad at all.

Cool track, chilled...I think it sounds good. I'd probably add a more prominent bassline.

Posted by mr2gti on Jun-01-2004 19:31:

I stand by my comment, so like aphex twin.

Keep it up.

Good work here mate, an enjoyable track to listen to! Whats makes it even more impressive is that its a first effort! Nice! Keep it up m8!

Really chuffed with all the feedback, thanks to everyone for taking the time to have a listen and post their thoughts.

re bassline: a few people mentioned it wasn't prominent enough, ironically I toned it down before the final render to try and remove some of the muddiness, in hindsight I should have just left it as it was

Az: Fruity

the beat in this is really cool and i love the way you sampled freelancer! (shh dont tell anyone!)

very well compiled, and as many people have said, excellent considering your levels of experience! its just a shame your audio setup at home leaves a lot to be desired, otherwise i think you would produce fantastic results!

there are some snots about a few things, a little more variation in places etc etc, you know what i think

top stuff

Talking

interesting stuff spad

sounds like hard lounge music. but interesting at the same time...

it sounds like u raped the entire track through a phaser with chorus.
