I love the pads! There are some freakin good ideas here, i havent heard the original though. There are some things that could be better. Work on the bassline first, its too high.

Cheers!
Alot better mate.

wel I tihnk by the pads you mean the orchestra samples which are taken from the last samurai just like the original ...

needs work...my basses always suck

ooo dlin da track now

superb remix by solid globe all be it a bit basicy maybe.

will probably enjoy it again for the sample

review once iv listened

hmmmmm

:/

well sampled iall give ya massive credit

needs alot of work mate, bass is octaves to high as said.

the break is copied off solid globe u know where its just the kick
thats good tho i luv the way the kick sorta builds with strings automaticly, tho that fx kinda blows the build all out.
The snare build needs fx with it going off.

more percussion. the snare needs to be changed imo mate.

the bassline really needs to be kicking it with the strings. But u might be doing a more progressive style so....

the 3:11 snare bulid that reallllly needs rehaul that doesnt feel rite at all.

not sure but i think me and u should go for a "Best Nickelson Yin Remix" or collab or something i dunno.

I definatly at some point am going to remix it, so if u want to collab or somethin just say.

hehehe

1. as said twice already, bass is way too high.
2. buildup at 1:05ish is too quick, sounds off, drop it or extend it a tad. the one at 1:35 is fine. or, just have the buildup/drum fade off into the track another couple of seconds.

3. part near the end of the sample, timing just sounds off, the sound is changing too much too early (variation to keep track interesting).

I think it might be cool rather than building up with the original track, build up your own nice and mellow for a minute and build into your energetic sound, and bring back the original briefly like 2 mins in and bring it in the break, because as one guy said, you've got some good ideas going on here. it just sounds off having the original orchestra fade off so quick and your track come in so quick, sounds spliced (which it probably is in a way).

love the effect at 2:15ish, 2:23ish. don't over due that, keep that just the way it is =)

lots of muddiness with timing, like you just wanted to throw all your ideas into this sample and let listeners sort out what might be good and what isn't to help ya out.

I think what you got is worthwhile pursuing for sure.

problem is thats the only snare sample I have ..

collab? sure I use fl studio ...

gonna work some more tommorow or tonight..

Have probs to download this ..Really like to hear it!

Posted by DjCommisad on May-30-2004 20:44:

timing is better, but i still have some personal taste issues with how strong your bass is and how strong overall the track you have laid out comes in after the sample.. i realize its a sample you have and are limited in what you can do/work with because of that...

but that's just a personal taste issue, so that can be taken so.

i just have an affinity for epic intros like that and then getting slammed out 20-30 secs in by a hard bassline, if you're going to take that route, do it right. on that note rather than bringing in the bassline while the sample still plays, try a fade away and then bring the bass/track and cut the sample when the volume gets low, but i still think your bass overall is still a bit strong and overpowering.

a lot of the timing issues i bugged u about before have been fixed, so kudos on that. and i still like the overall sound and your approach, and would like to see it finished if you're willing. =)

yah that bass there wasnt meant to be it was accidental...

Posted by DJ_Silverstone1 on May-30-2004 23:28:

right.

play the sample

and as its playing, play a note on ur synth till it is the right one
this will take time doing for most of the sample but u may get away with keep the same note going on a particular bit.

the track needs the melody to be continued imo, it can be off on the last note as DjCommisad said but i would rather u do it the melody way.
if it was to be on the last note. it should be done in a techno style like mauro remaking the coldplay clocks.

as said by DjCommisad the bass feel too strong but that is just a opinion, mine also being that it sounds messy too :/
The build at 1:44 the snare it neeeeds better varietion make it climb up in volume is instead of INNNNNN and then a sudden OUT the clash does help in this instance but it would sound even better if the snare accended.

if u dont want to plonk out the melody ur self on the synth u have to wait.
u have requested it on the midi page it will probably be done sometime.

good luck just keep trying it will eventually be excellent
