Oops, was this done before? Apologies if I'm being repetitive.

But must we talk about politics and the Middle East ALL the time? I can't help but throw in a little religion every once in a while! It's just too much darn fun!

There's no fun in religion topics anymore. You scared away all the fundies . We have to treat them as endangered species. If we overfish them then all we'll have left are fossil records.

OK, I'll play, though I didn't really feel that comfortable with some of my answers, and I'm sure the priority weighting had an impact(I just don't know what it was!).

OK, here goes:

1. Mahayana Buddhism (100%)
2. Hinduism (97%)
3. Orthodox Judaism (97%)
4. Bah' Faith (84%)
5. Islam (84%)

And in last place: Roman Catholic (31%)

I'm more confused than ever! I remember learning about Baha'i in highschool. I thought it was gay then, too.

Yeah, I thought some of the choices were a tad bit sketchy myself. The answers seemed to boil down to 3 categories: a fundamental Christian belief system, a Hindu belief system (multiple gods), or atheism/agnosticism.

Kinda goofy, I realize. I'm bored, what can I say?

I got this

How did the Belief-O-Matic do? Discuss your results on our message boards.

1. Unitarian Universalism (100%)
2. Secular Humanism (98%)
3. Nontheist (96%)
4. Theravada Buddhism (87%)
5. Liberal Quakers (78%)

Though i didnt understand some questions completely (i used the scientific methond of picking an answer at random here) so the results are to a certain point misleading. But i see myself as a firm nonbeliver in anything that is remotely tied with religion

Posted by Reverend_Trance on May-28-2004 22:09:

1. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (99%) Rock on!!!
2. Eastern Orthodox (90%)
3. Roman Catholic (90%)
4. Orthodox Quaker (86%)
5. Seventh Day Adventist (80%)

Last Place 27. Taoism (17%) - I am no tree hugger.

Well, I am not surprised by the results since I fit into the first category, but I am no fundimentialist nutjob.

 Belief in Deity
Not considered important. Most Humanists are atheists or agnostics.

 Incarnations
Same as above.

 Origin of Universe and Life
The scientific method is most respected as the means for revealing the mysteries of the origins of the universe and life.

 After Death
An afterlife or spiritual existence after death is not recognized.

 Why Evil?
No concept of evil. Reasons for wrongdoing are explored through scientific methods, e.g. through study of sociology, psychology, criminology.

 Salvation
No concept of afterlife or spiritual liberation or salvation. Realizing ones personal potential and working for the betterment of humanity through ethical consciousness and social works are considered paramount, but from a naturalistic rather than supernatural standpoint.

 Undeserved Suffering
No spiritual reasons but rather a matter of human vulnerability to misfortune, illness, and victimization.

 Contemporary Issues
The American Humanist Association endorses elective abortion. Other contemporary views include working for equality for homosexuals, gender equality, a secular approach to divorce and remarriage, working to end poverty, promoting peace and nonviolence, and environmental protection.

2. Neo-Pagan (93%)
3. New Age (91%)
4. Unitarian Universalism (90%)
5. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (88%)

27. Roman Catholic (7%)

this thing basically has no true understanding of the Roman Catholic faith and seems to be biased against it...

I have a feeling the Pope wouldn't even get 100% Roman Catholic on this little quiz!!

But I will check out some of the ones on top of my "list" anyway

Yikes

I was reading a Fundie blog, and came upon this pile of excrement:

(A discussion on the recent terror attacks in Saudi Arabia)

===========
To: Bobby777

i'd say things are begining to look good.

we need to channelize islamic hate and energies away from the west towards other muslims.

we need to pit the sunnis against the shiites. Divide the islamic world along linguistic, ethnic, sectarian and regional lines and throw the whole islamic world into a civil war.

a similar arrangement for iraq would also save american lives by channelizing the militants against each other.

The iran-iraq war as a brilliant success.

we now need to throw Pakistan into a war with India that would destroy it's WMD might. then to bring peace to pakistan we would carve it up into several small nations ,based on their different ethncities. This would give us people like the kurds who would see us the liberators and thank us for their independence.

similar measures could be adopted for iran, afghanistan, saudi arabia and all other islamic trouble makers to rob them of the might to field armies and the wealth to sponsor terror.
