MARCO V Houston Last Night....

Fucking SICK!

Marco V should never be missed on a set.

Also, who else caught notice of the openers? i listened very carefully to the openers tonight, I must say i was very impressed with the track selections and mix sets from both Alan and Mike. Tonights sets were a showing of consistancy in level of mix and track selection. Very hard to be very consistantly spot on. Thanks for doign it well. They warmed it up properly, and dropped some great tracks on the crowd. Much respect. The night was great fun, and seriouly good music. A litle light on attendence but that will grow as people start to get used to good events in smaller places.

would liek to read up some reviews from y'alls perspective on the music and party last night too.

THANKS TO YOU, Y'all are the ones who make it happen.

especially Emerald, Alan, Screen, Vanfecto, matt, and the rest of you all who are the reason this goes off and keeps the fire burning in texas.

Thanks to all of you TXTAs that came out and gave support. Very good to put the face with the name and meet some of you for first time

Marco was very enthusiastic even with the light attendance. I really have no complaints, same for venue wise. I mean the beer was cheap, tickets were cheap, a/c was good, bartender girl was cute, sound was good, couches were comfy, and marco spun great. Like sean said, the attendance was light, but that will improve as spundae gets word out. Me and digital we're talking bout how since hyperia went out, this town kinda died for awhile, and this should slowly pick things back up.

We got there at about 11ish (figured marco would come on at around 1), but he came on at 12, so, unfortunately didnt get to hear too much of the openers. From what I did hear, good stuff a lot of recognized tracks, and I'd like an ID on the last track before marco came on.

Anyway, was nice to finally meet all of you sean, daydream, numberjuan, digitalbreach, prestige, vanfecto, emerald, mavo......I think i met a couple other TA's and didnt even know it.

Overall, a good night. Definitely looking forward to Armin and PVD.

DAMN WAT A NIGHT BUT I WAS MOST IMPRESSED WITH THE DOOR GUY, did anyone see that guy, man he was throwin down some great change for 20's and his technique was flawless, haha. No seriously Alan and Mike great job, good set, great warm-up because you did just that. Props to Sean as usual for bringing great events even if he has to sacrifice a bit, and good to see all thee TA's and it was just a great night.

true true, at one point we were actually letting in people for free to get some sort of crowd. but as always it is not quantity but quality, we at least had that.

feet are killing me right now,

IT IS FROM THE BEST DAMN SHOW THIS YEAR. A PERFECT CIRCLE JUST ROCKED MY WORLD!!! Maynard is the god of rock.

back to topic, Marco V threw it down. great set. great opening sets from Mike, Alan, and Sean. see you guys at Donald.

Dude I was going to go to their gig in Austin on Monday but then I found out its the same day as my sisters graduation. *sigh* Who knows when I'll get to see APC again since Maynard will probably start working with TOOL on their next album.

Did they play any good covers or have any surprises in store. For their opening gig on Halloween last year here in S@-town they played a bad ass cover of Metallica - Master of Puppets for an encore. It was one of THE BEST concerts ive ever been to.

At least I have Metallica to look forward to in Nov.

ps It sucks there was a small turnout for Marco V. The place looks really small too. Oh well at least you guys had fun.

Posted by Emerald on May-30-2004 17:32:

ahhh yes.

it was a good event, not as big of a turnout as should be expected at a smaller venue like clarks, but it was still a dope party. me and alan had fun warmin up for marco, it was more of an honor actually (thanks sean). then marco came on and ripped it up. some tracks i remember him playin:

Matthew Dekay - Higher Thoughts
Papua New Guinea (? remix)
Kill Bill (Marco V Bootleg)
Marco V - Automanual <----
Marco V - God Child
Marco V - C:\Del

well it was a good night, thanks to everyone who came out. hope to see u all at donald glaude, if not, then ARMIN!!!

and if anyone was interested, heres me and alan's playlist from last night:
Petter - Dica Drive
Quivver - Space Manouvres Part3 (Quivver Breaks Mix)
Matthew Dekay - Time To Think (Rewind Mix)
Grayarea - Gravity
Kate Bush Vs. Infusion - Running Up That Hill
Panoptic - Harmonic Germs
Christian Cambas - It Scares Me (Micali & Ajami Remix)
Trafik - Your Light (Luke Chable Four To The Floor Dub)
Habersham & Numinous - Rhetorical Question
Holden & Thompson - Nothing (93 Returning Mix)
Powerplant - Blame (Luke Chable Remix)
Nat Monday - Waiting (John Creamer & Stephanie K Mix)
Luke Chable & Jono Fernandez - Come To Me (Chris Fortier Remix)
Layo & Bushwacka - It's Up To You (Lee Cabrera Dub)
...sean jumped on here
Steve Porter - Vodka Cranberries (Original Mix)
...some more nice tracks i didnt know...
Kiko - Worldcup (2.0 Mix)
Allen & Healey - Acid House
Sander Kleinenberg - My Lexicon
Alex Dolby - Psiko Garden
Will Saul - Cliff (Infusion Remix)

later!

Awsome night indeed. I was pleased that i saw alot of familiar faces and having a good time.

That Papa New Guinea was a 2004 mix.. so its labeled on the record i have.
Future Sound of London versus Annihilate - Papa New Guinea (2004)
Also heard TDR - Plique as well. I was really hoping to hear Echnalava but still it was a great set.

And as for Alan and Mike's set.. it was great. And sean dropped a couple of nice tracks as well. Too bad he didnt spin for a whole complete set. I haven't heard him do that in a long time.

Anywell.. donald glaude here i come.. missed you the first time.. but not this second time. See you guys at Donald Glaude. =)

You gotta understand - Quantity IS important. It might have been great, but the light attendance there may very well keep Spundae from booking him in Houston again for awhile. Without money coming in, it's hard for them to create a budget for big DJs.

Fantastic night! Got there when Marco V was already on. It was a small crowd, but it was a crowd that was there to dance! Marco V can spin some serious shit!!

Sean, thanks for this event. It made my birthday a memorable one.

I second this, Houston's night club scene has steadly gone to shit since CLUB SOME and then Hyperia shut down. I can't believe a city as big as Houston has such a shitty scene. I miss the days from 1997 to 2000 when trance was really kicking in H-TOWN, I can't wait for those days and come back and RAP to die. I hope your right about Spundae, by the way where is it located, havent been out in a while.

Dave

dave is right, but also, the reality has alot to do witht hings for me anyway.

Clarks is a tough place to get attendance up.
its new, not many people go there , and its downtown which costs alot jsut to arrive.
So there are some factors that attriute to some smaller shows like that.

For instance, 18+ at aRichs for hte same show would have been more than double the attendance.

so bad call on my part for venues. but still it went off good, and it was more fun in the corwd than the pictures showed.

Thanks for ocmign out.

that was my pleasure.

This saturday though, DONALD at GATSBY will be fuckin ill.

Dave is also spot on with the "need to support the smaller shows or the larger ones are hard to make valid."
Tis true . so come out and have fun at our parties, and overall you should see whatever is out there available , we will keep the fires burning together.

See you saturday at Gatsby. Donald GLaude and Playstation Tour will be something to behold and would be good to kick thigns off proper.

Well, I think he's agreeing from what i said. From the night hyperia went down, all the way to about october of 2003, there was a pretty big dead zone. Past 7 months tho, stuffs been happening.
