Which one is better in your opinion and WHY : Canon or Nikon ?

canon cuz i have one! i've always thought nikon was kind of crap! i know they make good cameras too, but i've just never liked them! canon seems to be more professional! remember thought that this is just a personal perference and i don't know shit about photography.

As of now I use Canon SLRs and lenses, but that is solely a choice based on budget constraints...if somebody gave me a Nikon DSLR or F100...hell I'd take it...makes DAMN good photos. In fact...both systems make damn good photos. I still firmly beleive it is the photographer, and not the equipment, that matters most. Which is why I disagree with Nikon's "If the picture matters, then the camera matters" slogan...because "if the picture matters, the photographer matters" imo

For now and the forseeable future...I am sticking to Canon...next buy

That thing is sweet but pricey. I've been using only film cameras until now and the digital slr's are getting good enough these days to finally start using them. I'm getting one in the near future and I'm thinking about Canon , not sure about the model yet thou.

I have a friend who has one and it kicks ass literally. Great photos, great quality and nice design too.
I've never heard that much good from Canon though, that's probably why I vote for Nikon.

I wouldn't be so sure about that. Recently two of my friends switched to Canon and they both said that using Nikon in the past was a big mistake. The only thing so far that Nikon is able to offer that actually is better than Canon is auto-focusing in very low light. A good photographer can't rely on his gear only, you have to have the skills and the "eye".

It all depends what you're using them for, and what kit you've got already.

I personally prefer Nikon, just because I work in Jessops, and I've seen numerous 300Ds come back with problems, but the D70s get nothing but praise. That's just put me off really.
