Looks like the feud is over

ATB and PVD is playing happily together again. This is what the EDM is suppost to be.

I wouldn't be so sure. Just cos they play at the same party doesn't mean they're not pissed off at each other any longer (if they ever were that is). After all, Paul thought ATBs music was crap way before he supposedly told ATB to piss off @ the Einslive Krone afterparty.

Second time I'm saying this today: enlighten me on the situation (why they have a beef in the first place).

We dunno if they even have one. All we have to go on is ATBs statement, which is that Paul told ATB to "piss off, I'm better than you anyway" when ATB came up to take over the decks for his set after Paul was done @ the afterparty for the Einslive Krone (german award show), and the fact that Paul slammed ATB big time in Mixmag for making 9pm.

i read that article of Mixmag and I don't remember anywhere where paul puts down ATB, the journalist says some stuff about ATB but no where is paul quoted in any such way...

I know for sure that Paul pointed out 9PM in particular when he explained why he didn't like to be called "leader of trance nation", which is what Mixmag called him. I know it was posted here on TA as well, but I cba to search through that 30-page thread that was created on this subject last time.

Actually 4 people jumped at ATB (valid point they had)

It was 2000 and it was PvD, Timo Maas (who since stated he got too big headed back then....but hates when people call atb's music trance because it was commercial cheese), Laurent Garnier and BT.

ATB is not a hard guy to piss off apparently, he got hacked off at PvD's comments and went on the assault.

Timo Maas had the best line tho, he once said and I quote, I'll kick the hell outta atb if I ever see him

Laurent Garnier compared it to tellytubbie music

BT compared it to listening to classical music and led zepplin

I don't see why more people did not jump at ATB earlier, he is a thief, could not make his own idea for something, so he stole scorchio.

There was a magazine someone scanned (huge article) dealing with PVD. About 2 paragraphs into the article, it said something like:

"I can't stand music that makes it to the stage like the shit Titanic theme and ATB's shit"

personally, i like ATB. As a DJ, he is pretty average, but he's much more of a party DJ than a trance DJ, much like Judge Jules.
As an artist, he has really grown beyond that "boing boing" sound. However, his best songs are those that have already been released as singles. So don't think buying the album will give you even better work. But i'll still buy them to chill out from the more epic or high energy tunes.

maybe it's just a good chance for PVD to kick some ass

i am going to chime in as a trance moron...

who is atb?

torontotrance, do you remember which interview this came from? It sounds vaguely familiar but I don't quite remember it. I do have this quote however:

Brian Transeau (BT), Re: Mainstream 'Epic Trance',
"It's turned into this kind of Nazi, high-five, white guy music. It's like melodic gabba. Some of the stuff around is diabolical. I'm just not a fan. You start getting up to 150 bpms and I need to sit down. I think ATB is the worst fucking shit on the entire planet. I would rather listen to only Backstreet Boys for the rest of my life - it's unforgivable."

I have enjoyed some of ATB's singles (that pitch-bended synth guitar sound is a staple) but on the whole, his style does not resonate with me.

BT and PVD are good friends so clearly there is an "allies camp"... doesn't ATB have his "Trance All-Stars" group? In any case I don't want to see feuding since this is the luxurious commodity of music, but humans do it.

ATB is the trance equivelant to Darude. He sucks the fat one, and Paul was right to tell him to piss off. He doesn't belong in that show with Motorcycle, Acosta, and the rest. That's a damn shame.

Yes. He does. But not nearly as much as ATB. I'd pay to see Acosta before I went to see ATB for free. Period.

Brian Transeau (BT) on Music
Totally. I love what guys like Oliver Lieb and Paul Van Dyk do. I hate that ATB and those sorts of people have prostituted this stuff. You listen to an ATB track and then you listen to Sasha, and the difference is as obvious as listening to Led Zeppelin and Rachmaninoff.

Laurent Garnier on Music
For Garnier it's also a question of quality. "The problem is a lot of things I hear out here on the radio are not trance - I mean that ATB track I heard the other day - is this trance? This is fucking Tellytubbies music."

Posted by JayD on Jun-01-2004 21:29:

Don't think he should've compared Led Zeplin in regards to ATB.

Maybe a big hair eightee's rock band or something but not Led Zeplin.

Led Zeplin was highly respected and played good music in thier time.

If you dont like Led Zeppelin, You dont like people of the opposite sex.

ATB is good to turn on when im doing homework or something and not really paying attention to what Im listening to.

It's about time. Both are talented, no need to argue who has the larger EDM pen0r.
