good prices and brilliant delivery.

Hmmm didn't realise DVD-Rs were that cheap and you can get a DVD writer for only 50 quid (well maybe a bit more)
If they can hold 4.7gb each then it makes sense for me to get a writer, seeing as im just looking for backup storage

Any suggestions of what DVD writers, discs are good??

computers are like lego, the only thing you have to watch out for with hard drives is the jumper setting on the hard drive. you need to take a look at what other things in your system are set to, then set it correctly. it makes things easier if everything is on 'cable select', as it just sets it as wherever you put it on the IDE lead (i.e. the connector on the end is master, while the one part-way down is slave), but if the rest of your stuff is set to 'master' or 'slave', then make sure your new hard drive is set to 'slave' before connecting it.

definitely google it first though, i can't be arsed to type a step by step walk-thru

yeah it is kinda like lego, but with settings

the POST in bios should give u a message if the hard drive aint set up properly, as i found with mine, it kept telling me it wouldnt run very well as a secondary master. so i switched it to a primary slave and it worked fine

building pcs and modding them pwns.
