A T B - Evolving To A Better Producer?

Or maybe I'm exaggerating....check out the tune on his site and decide for yourself. If this new album has this new distinct sound, then I applaud ATB for moving away from the cheese and into something thats more original!

As much as I want to bash ATB, I really cannot do it on a good conscience because the man HAS pioneered some sly but effective things. His signature pitch-bended guitar synth sound, for example. It's innovation by subversion. On the whole, though, I like a few of his singles but don't personally care for his artist albums.

This tune reminds me of Moby when the beat kicks in, something like "We Are All Made Of Stars", including part of the chord progression.

Be Cool!

i love atb. better then tiesto and avb and dresden

ATB...seems like they are growing up yes. Slowly, but surely. ^_^. I still am not a big fan of their new tunes; perhaps they are an aquired taste...

ATB is one person. Andr Tanneberger

This reminds me of the day I was shocked to learn that Aphex Twin wasn't two people (and twins at that).

But yeah, using an alias often does make people wonder... is it a he? a she? a THEY? unless it's a DJ name, where it's assumed it's used in the singular sense.

But in the case of ATB it's almost like an abbreviated form of his name.

Of course you could get ATB confused with the shitty Euro dance group ATC. Famous for their "hit" that was "Around the World".

ATC are 10 thousand times better then ATB, perhaps you dont know what good music is!

cheese, please pardon me for asking this... but I really must ask, so:

Is there a point to your recent posts? They either are not very helpful, interspersed with a lot of ?'s and miscellaneous emoticons . . . or seem to be flame-baiting.

Please do tell. Thank you.

Interesting, especially since it's coming from a TiT that's been around here for half a year with the name of "cheese".

Moving Medodies had the hat trick of the "boing boing" sounds. However, the rest of the album was rather mediocre. The album with "summer" came and it was a bit better. But i'm guessing he's now moving on with the scene and development as an artist so shy away from his history. His new tunes are rather good tho.

well i always thought ATB will always stay cheese all the way, however, i got hold of "ATB - Marrakech (A&T remix)" and really it took my breath away. the bassline, the sounds, the vocals. its a realy nice track. i didn't hear any of the other tracks in the album. but if another 2 were quality, i'd definately buy the album. i hope he keeps it up . . .

Posted by neoraver on Jun-02-2004 16:55:

his new album is def. worth being bought imo, has some nice tracks on it

Posted by Plastick on Jun-02-2004 17:51:

Will check it out

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-02-2004 18:47:

He will always sit in the josh wink hall of fame in my book, for stealing scorchio, just wrong. That's why I lost total respect for mauro picotto as well.

Posted by dj tek on Jun-02-2004 18:50:

tiesto steals melodies all the time too..lol

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-02-2004 18:56:

but tiesto is like fatboyslim, he pays for them

like traffic and others

i mean look at fatboyslim, all sampled stuff but he pays for it and uses it.

Posted by sandstorm03 on Jun-02-2004 19:02:

Well mr. sam and sasha in a way, have other people make their stuff/get help from others. So if you name Tiesto, name them also.

yes i know they are not the same siduation but still.

Tiesto stole the melody for Suburban Train, apparently from Kid Vicious, who also stole it from Matt Darey (Gamemaster). I've never seen Tiesto give Matt Darey any credit for the melody.

Posted by torontotrance on Jun-02-2004 19:14:

I'm not saying Tiesto is not a complete thief here. I'm just saying I've seen him pay for samples, unlike certain deejays (Cough josh wink).

imo suburban Train has NOTHING to do with the gamemaster.

I don't really care, because the melody in Suburban Train is identical to one of the melodies in Gamemaster. Not the lead, obviously, but listen to it and you should know which bit I mean.

EXACTLY my point.. also the main melody in Tiesto's remix of Silence is exactly the same on Basic Avalon - Firewalk... and i think Basic Avalon's track was before tiesto's remix of silence. coincidence or not.
