Honestly, look at the crap they are trying to pull in toronto with the GK name. If any of my mates back in the UK saw that they would laff and it would support all thier views about north american clubbing being a joke in its mear infancy at best.

These nights and thier shit music supports thier theory WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

They have the oppurtunity to run a good night and they are wrecking the GK name and an oppurtunity for clubbing diversity.

Who is with me.
I will compose the letter but i want at least 200 names signed on to it.

Hell we could even petition them to send over eddie halliwell or fergie to at least be somewhat representative

Honestly for those of you who have been over the pond, GK is a proper night of clubbing. For those of you going over there this summer you will expierence this. Then when you see this shit it will infuriate you.

It would be like putting the stella artois name on a can of labatt blue!!!!!!!!!

Its a bloody disgrace

Or it would be like ordering a pizza from pizza hut and when it arrives you get a pizza from 3-4-1 pizza.

Or like BMW putting thier name on a ford

or PVD putting his name on a Dr trance set or
its fricken stupid and i wonder if the head office knows about it??

Let us begin the clubbers revolution against the Top40 RnB bourgoise who would enslave us to thier imperial whims or cheesy music and awfull clubbing. We dont have to stand for this we can unite and overthrow the clubbing imperialists.

All power to the tranceaddict soviets!!!!!!!!

meh...i don't know if that many people in this town care that much that a godskitchen party isn't living up to the standards they've set elsewhere....

nothing against godskitchen....i think everyone's familiar with the kind of parties they can throw and i understand you're pissed that it's good name is taking a bit of a beating from their first party but people here want to see their fave dj's and as long as they do i don't think they care that much who's name is associated with it...imo

Ive seen it time and time again. Whenever Toronto tries to import a name from elsewhere it never works. The best events in Toronto have always been homegrown. Will people ever learn?

I'm up for importing events, but the importers should not be homegrown...they should be the originals from across the pond...North American market for that kind of night is still very weak but growing. Johan Gielen is comming up for one of the events so that's a good start...Armin is a GK resident so if he comes here for a friday that'll be sweet as well

hand over the pen. I just sent the flyer for the first Docks GK event to my cousin in London/UK. I actually heard his laugh from across the pond and then I think he mumbled something about the docks being a bunch of sad gits.

I don't really care that the Docks is killing the GK name (GK's fault for not controling things so as to prevent such an embarrassment) However, their cheesy marketing and sleezy promotional tactics are pretty amusing...and always enjoy a good laugh.

Posted by swilly on Jun-04-2004 20:56:

my thoughts are you know what if the docks want to run a cheesy trance night go ahead. But dont get everyone all excited about having clubbing events like over the pond in toronto only to do this shit.

Why not just call it Dockcrasher or something and be serious about its cheesouscity. I agree who cares about GK name getting ruining but.. what about us. I had my hopes lifted only to get shot down like this.

Sucks

ffs
give em a chance....

theyve only been around what 2 weeks???
they woudlnt be using that "holy GK" name if they hadnt got their blessing from GK themselves now would they??? Im curious to see how much say GK has in the running of these nights cuz if they do have creative input then its "your mates across the pond" who are partially at fault...

i for one will not base an opinion on this night untill i go to see johan gielen on the 18th.

And JUSTINSTYLES caplocks filled response in 3...2...1...

Posted by Endlesswave on Jun-05-2004 04:34:

I'm w Samhouse on this one. I couldn't understand why they didn't just bang out the wicked Uk brand to begin with but after talking to another TA about it realized that may not necessarily fly over too well and that sneaking in the brand that they are famous for is the way to do it, I mean you get people to think about the other genre of music to begin with if they aren't interested in it, eventually they will be.

Homelands - this is what clubbing is about!

Wow just give it a chance, besides, any kind of publicity is good publicity.

whats the actual lineup for this? i didnt know GK were setting up over there.. but whatever the line up is, id say they have a lot to live up to considering the quality of every weeks lineup over here in UK, i mean i dont like half the styles they have on but its quality from every genre everyweek over here

that's right nukleuz! you should know since you literally live a stone's throw from its cradle in birmingham!

the GK i know from living in the UK is top notch quality!! in the fall/ winter/ spring time they tour all the universities in the UK (they came to our uni twice a term!!) and then in the summer they move over to ibiza - an experience which is, to date, one of my most memorable clubbing nites (my b-day @ Amnesia, 2000 ~ J00F, Fergie & co.)
ahh the memories (when i still loved trance) ...J00F played Africa-ca-caaa-caa coming on after Fergie ...i'll never forget that moment, the club going absolutely mental ...

and to top it all off, i don't know how they did this, - they're known for their out-of-this-world laser shows - but at one point during the night, - there were little elevated round islands with steps throughout the dancefloor - and no matter what level people were standing on, everyone had a halo!!! crazy!! LOL!

i guess it's a cool idea that the GK Angel is spreading its wings globally ...but then it should really represent itself the way people know it in its original form, not some cheese-o replication.

... but then again, i still need to check it out myself here at the docks cos at this point i am only going by people's opinions on this board, and besides, it's only been on for two w-e's in a row. so let's see what the angel has in store for us for the rest of the summer! let's not shoot it down quite yet ...

check out http://www.godskitchen.com
::TO is represented under GK USA.

the line-up for the Global Gathering 2004 on July 31st looks (Sasha, Steve Lawler, JZ, Marco V ...) every genre is represented ... but u'd only find me in the bedrock, breooshka & air tents! sweeeeeeeeeeeeetttt!!!
