in reagards to the steaming thread... is it true that you get more drunk if you drink through a straw? for some reason i feel like i've heard that before... anyone else?

yup ... because more alcohol gets absorbed through your mouth and goes straight into the bloodstream ... (for the same reason, pills are more effective if you chew them, but you didn't hear that from me).

Hmm... why would a straw cause more to absorb in your mouth though? Even if it did.... wouldn't holding a shot in your mouth for a while do the same thing?

Actually, a friend with MS told me that drinking with a straw oxidizes the drink (adds more oxygen). This supposedly has some sort of effect. I have taken part in experiments to test this theory and it does in fact make you tipsy quite alot faster.

I heard that drinking will a straw reduces the amount of oxygen whilst u are actually drinking, then when u gulp in air after drink it blows u away.
