KarateKid TOTA en Madrid (help?)

Hola TA's Espaoles.

Junio 24. Mi avin llega a Madrid en Junio 12, mas o menos a
las 9:15 de la noche.

Si alguien aqui tiene algunas recomendaciones de lugares
que valen la pena visitar mientras que estoy por alli, !por favor
dejen me saber! Todavia estoy estudiando diferentes lugares que
valen la pena de visitar. Si a alguien le gustaria ensearme la ciudad
tambien dejen me saber!

Gracias por toda su ayuda!

En Ingles

hello Spanish TAs

first off, my Spanish is horrible, so I won't attempt to write it. Instead I got a friend to translate some of it for me.

I will be visiting Europe this summer and will be stopping by in the beautiful cities of Madrid and Barcelona between June 12th and June 24th. My plane arrives in Madrid on June 12th at about 9:15pm in the evening.

If anyone here has any recommendations on things worth checking out while I'm there please let me know! I'm still doing some research on various different sites that are worth visiting. If you're up for showing me around, please let me know too!

Thanks for all your help!

Hi,
If you are looking for trance clubs or raves, Ibiza is the right place. But you should feel lucky because the day you just arrive in Madrid, Above and Beyond will be performing a liveset at Trance Nation @ Groove Danve Club (Ctra. Andaluca, Km 20.900 - Salida 20. Pinto - Madrid).

www.clubbingspain.com is a good website to search events and dates (it's not too trancy but house/techno-clubbing). Here you can find a chart with a short selection of top clubs all around Spain:
http://www.clubbingspain.com/link/index.php?id=2

These are the main events at Madrid and outskirts (Zona Centro):
June, 12th:

For the whole Spain (from 13th - 24th):

At Barcelona you will find, from June 17th to 19th, Sonar Festival (http://www.sonar.es/2004/eng/conciertos.cfm)

Another Agenda (June '04):
http://www.evidance.net/a_02_agenda.htm

Keep up to date cheking oftenly the spanish TA.

I'd love to go with you and show you Madrid and surroundings (if possible don't forget to visit also Toledo, Segovia, Alcal, they're really worth spots) but I'm studying for the coming exams.

Council of Madrid (tourism):

See you soon!

I guess he is searching more cultural places than clubs... isn't it??
If it is I suggest in Barcelona "the Forum of Cultures 2004".

http://www.barcelona2004.org/eng/

However for me, in any trip the night scene of the city is one of the most important points of a travel, so like Shockwave has said I suggest to go to the Sonar festival in Barcelona.

Thumbs up

wikids, thanx a lot..

i've been checking clubbingspain.com for a while now, definately a great source for info. it's just too bad that i can't read all the Spanish there..

anyhow, UnBracKo is right, i want to get a chance to see some cultural things as well, but of course, there's always room for some clubbing ..

(i just need to make sure that my hostel won't lock me out at night lol)..

anyways, thanks to both shockwavedj and UnBracKo, i really appreciate your help.. maybe i'll see you guys around in the city!

cheers!

If you finally go to the Sonar Festival I'll be there on friday's night 19th. On these dates if you are in Barcelona the Sonar festival is an unmissible event.
Let me know if you are there...

Mmmm... Culture? eh! Yeah, I'm gonna show you the best places in Madrid and surroundings. UnBracko is from Catalua so I guess he can tell you a lot of things about Barcelona.

NOTE: Be patient, I've linked some heavy pics and it took a bit to download.

City of Madrid
If there's a must-visit site, this is Museo del Prado. You can find more info in english here.

Museo del Prado owns the main masterworks of spanish artists such as Velazquez, Goya, Murillo...

and hosts one of the best flemish and dutch picture collection in the world, with renowed painters like Bosch, Rubens, van Dyck and Brueghel.

It has also a very good collection of italian pics: Titian, Botticelli, Fra Angelico, Tintoretto, Caravaggio,...

Then, you should visit Reina Sofia. It's like Prado but relating to modern art. Info.

You will find greatest modern artists such as Picasso, Dal, Gris, Mir, Gargallo, Tpies, Chillida...

You should also visit, by this order:

Palacio Real (Royal Palace):

Jardines de Sabatini: gardens near Palacio Real.

El Retiro: like Central Park, a garden in the middle of the city.

Puerta de Alcal:

Puerta del Sol

Plaza Mayor: Main square and City Hall.

El Escorial at 50 km from the city...

Atocha Train Station

If you like skyscrappers Madrid is a "short" city, but there's an interesting pair of them:

Torre Picasso

Torres KIO

but the best buildings are the "classic" ones:
Edificio Metrpolis

Ministerio de Agricultura

Edificio de Bellas Artes

Another pics:
Our Parliament:

Any street

Bufff....

A quick look at Avila and Segovia:
Avila

Segovia

El Alcazar

Toledo

Bufff... and that's all (all I can write without become dehydrated). If you need more info... you already know where we are.

If you're interested in ancient cultures, you can visit roman ruins in Tarragona, 100 km at the south of Barcelona.

You can check some infor in:

above & beyond will be in groove this saturday(in pinto, a village near the
city), the party will cost 12, i want to go, but i don't have
people to go... in any case, if you go with a friend, you will not
listen much trance in that party because the groove's residents
play techno, hardstyle, and a little bit of trance, but i think that
you'll like the party.
see ya.
ah, if you want to go to some museums, i recommend you the "museo
del prado", a must-visit site like shockwave says.

por cierto, shockwave, muy currao el reportaje por asi decirlo ,
de nuestra ciudad!
