Bedroom DJ Mixer
I know they're many posts about mixers, and quality etc... but I'm on the verge of buying one, and got my specs more less narrowed down; therefore I'm just looking a quick thought.
I'm looking for a new quality mixer for my bedroom use. Price range below $1000.00, and one that is comfortable to use. No effects are necessary for i already own an efx-500, and although i do own 2x cdj's and 2x tt's, I think a 3-channel mixer is more than ok, for mixing 4 songs at once is fucking crazy!
So, with those specs in mind... what do you recommend. I was probably thinking of a Xone:32.
Any responses or recommendations?
(oh yeah... i don't use the cross-fader, and if it has 'programming' or 'cue mixing', how ever you want to call it, better!
)
xones are freakin nice mixers. Even though i never had my hands on a 32, i believe the phono/line switches are behind the mixer right by the rca inputs. That would be a pain in the ass if you want to switch from phono to line for your cd decks. Otherwise, from my experience w/ the xone: 02 and xone: 62, i would have to say they are sick sounding mixers and im sure the 32's filters are about as good as it's bigger brother the 62 and 92. Im sure you'll be happy with it.
Another nice mixer to check out would be the rane empath. I own one right now and it's easily the best sounding and most comfortable 3 bus mixer i've ever used. The sound quality is beyond excellent, and it's "flexFX" effects send/return is easily the best of any mixer currently on the market. With the flex fx you have a small horizontal fader directly below the eqs that controls the wet/dry for the channel. if the fader is all the way to the right it's a 100% processed signal, if all the way to the left 100% dry, and in the middle 50/50.
I was able to get a empath from GC for $800 after tax and they even gave me some 1/4" TRS cables and oil to lube the faders' rails.
if you have any more questions about the empath please feel free to pm me. BTW i hope i don't sound like im rambling, long day and im tired.

another option is an ecler smac 40....the one bonus is it has 4 channels and it sounds great....the 32 is great except like the other guy said the buttons to toggle in between line/phono are in the back of the unit as well as the gains....why they did that is beyond me....but the empath is kinda pricey.....the ecler isn't better than these but for the price and for what it has to offer i would consider it....i think its perfect for the bedroom.....hey what do u know!!!!i'm selling one!!!!
also if u wanna spend 800-900 get a zone 62.But if u want a cheap alternate try the ecler.
seriously what i said is a sales pitch as well as the truth IMO!
check it out
Ecler SMAC 40 Auction
I agree, the ecler smac 30/40 is a very nice mixer. Looks kind of funky imo, but all in all a good all-round mixer. The only bad thing i've heard was it's effect send/return kind of sucked. But still a good value for the money.
as soon as everyone saw "3 channel mixer" everyones like "empath! empath!!" id whole heatedly agree except for the fact he said below a grand not above it

Haven't used the empath or the ecler but I own a Xone:32 and I'm in love with her. Everything about her, quality wise, is excellent. Regarding the gains and line/phono toggles on the rear plate of the mixer, neither are a problem for me - I'm used to adjusting gains by ear now instead of looking at the position of the knob, which wouldn't make sense to do anyway, and the knobs aren't out of reach, it's just that you can't see what position they're at. The phono/line toggles are not out of reach either, though admittedly I don't use them often seeing as I only have a pair of turntables hooked up... if I was using the toggles often it probably would be a bit of a c*nt because you would need to look over the back of the mixer to see what position they are in. Apart from that it's a sexy little thing and is decently priced for what you get. I paid $650 for it at riksmusic and shipping was free, best price I could find by far!
I got my Xone:62 for $999.95.
