Should the Green party be included in the leaders debate?

There has been controversy lately about the Green party who received 800,000 votes last election. The national media wont allow them to be involved in the leaders debate that is coming up. They argue that they have yet to win a seat and therefor dont deserve a spot in the debate. The Greens counterargue that they had 5% of the national vote last time which is 10 times more than any other "alternative party". They say that they are increasingly an important statistic in Canadian politics and therefor deserve to be included in the debate.

there is to debate as to when a party becomes a "serious contender"

I think running a candidate in all ridings is serious, and if they maintain their 6% of the popular vote, I won't be surprised if they take a few seats.

^ Especially in BC, where the party has run for over 2 decades, and where people seem to value the environment a bit more.
