Im in the mood...

To go to the OTB right now and put $50 on Smarty Jones to win the Belmont Stakes. *scratches head*

Posted by LinX on Jun-05-2004 21:33:

what time is the race?

Posted by trunks1022 on Jun-05-2004 21:36:

in about half hour

Posted by Shamez214 on Jun-05-2004 21:41:

if you put 50 down on him to win, how much will you gain? 5 bucks? i'm really want to know though cause i have no idea how betting works

Posted by Vlad on Jun-05-2004 21:43:

I think it all depends on how you bet.

You can pick 1 horse to win... or you can pick the 1 and 2... 1, 2 and 3... or 1, 2, 3, and 4, obviously picking 4 is the hardest.

Dunno

i think the more people that bet on a specific horse (smarty jones), will win less than betting on a lesser know horse?

Thats obvious.

I think... not sure... lets say the over/under is 3/1 and your horse wins, you get 3 times what you bet. So if you bet $50, you get $150. Not sure though.

Your better off not even betting than, lol, so many people have their money on Smarty your gonna end up loosing money.

the only worthwhile bets at this point are for trifecta (placing first three in order) and the other one for just choosing the first three horses in no particular order heh

you think they are gonna make it easy to win money? Might as well go for the powerball.

and the money you win is based on the odds...

Posted by Shamez214 on Jun-05-2004 22:08:

you can also bet on how many lengths the horse will win by. last time i checked the paper, smarty by 10 lengths was 100/1 odds. now THAT'S chedda

Posted by Vlad on Jun-05-2004 22:21:

Odds are now 2/5 on Smarty.

Posted by Shamez214 on Jun-05-2004 22:58:

i still think that the tc is easier for horses than for baseball players.

Posted by trunks1022 on Jun-05-2004 23:00:

a TWO year old came on to win that.... not the regular 3 year olds
