-- so i want to study overseas
so i want to study overseas
hey all,
currently studying at Victoria University and had some dude come in a lecture the other day talking to us about the international exchange program the university offers its students.
Was very interested as i've always wanted to travel the world but unforntunately my always empty bank account has prevented me in doing so, i see this as too good an oppurtunity to miss so i have applied.
My question to you guys is, in what order would you place prefernce for country to study in?
I have a choice of these five countries:
1. Canada (University of Western Ontario)
2. China Beijing Sport University)
3. USA (Indiana University)
4. Germany (Cologne University)
5. England (Sheffield HAllam University)
The exchange lasts for 6 months.
In The end, study abroad is really study abroad, so in my opinion the quality of the institution doesnt matter too much, besides they will all be of reasonably high quality if they've got study abroad programs.
I'd go for whatever country floats your boat to be honest.
Your gonna have a ball, and its prolly best if you go for somewhere different, but who you can still communicate with.
So for me, the choices would be as follows -
1. England (Sheffield Hallam University)
2. Germany (Cologne University)
3. Canada (University of Western Ontario)
4. USA (Indiana University)
5. China Beijing Sport University)
My choices would be:
1. Germany (Cologne University) <-- very beautiful city
2. Canada (University of Western Ontario) <-- Canada is cool, lots of trance events.
3. England (Sheffield HAllam University) <---- can't got wrong with the poms
4. China Beijing Sport University) <-- would be a cultural experience
5. USA (Indiana University) <---- stupid yanks
While going to an English speaking country would be tempting because it's fairly easy to fit in and adjust, I'd be going for the "totally new experience" sort of thing. You have to learn a new language along with everything else, so you can really immerse yourself in your surroundings.
So I guess from that list I'd be going for Germany or China, depending on budget. Germany = expensive, China = cheap.
i'd hit canada for the snowboarding, and then the rest is tough (but China is last on my list - ain't no way i'm going to be learning Chinese anytime soon!).
Maybe a semester in each?
ha a semester in each would be great! but thats not possible.
Ok so im leaning more towards Germany, just the language barrier is a downside
but think of the frauleins und das Bier!!
das ist gut! ja ja!
Well I'm from Canada and the University of Western Ontario is a beautiful university and is very well regarded. Especially their business school.
London Ontario (where Western is) is not that far from Toronto so road trips are defiantly an option. Plus I hear London has some good bars. (Nothing close to trance though)
Oh and by the way, there is no snowboarding anywhere near London.. You're looking at least an 8-hour drive to hit up a good mountain (Mount Tremblant)

).
Better go to Holland or Switzerland and for the girls to Vienna (where the girls from the former eastblock meet)
Also, scheise! Mein Deutsch hat schwerer gewesen, denn ich Deutsch kein mehr in der Uni studieren.
