although there are many countries in the world that still have national service, i don't think anyone should be forced to fight if they don't want to.

its not as if the american army isnt big enough anyway..? i think what they actually need is more training in how to not shoot themselves and their friends, that way they might last a bit longer..

No draft forthcoming. Army is meeting mission with volunteer force. If push comes to shove, they can lower accession standards (i.e. more CAT IV), but more reasonable solution would be to maintain standards and throw money at the problem, meaning increasing enlistment bonuses. We're going to put 30-40K more in the force over next 3 years.
