NBA: Lakers vs. Pistons

The underdog, Detroit, in spite of all the predictions made in favour of Lakers, and everyone saying that Pistons are no match for LA, they still came up on top in Game 1... on LA's home court too!

Boo-Yaa! I made some money tonite... suckers!

Don't ever underestimate the heart and a desire of the underdogs!!!

I'd love to hear your predictions for the rest of the series...

go Pistons!!!!
i hate the damn lakers. ever since they beat the Rockets and the Spurs. curses on them

Who says Detroit is the underdog? Cleary they will dominate the Lakers.

i hate karl malone. i loved watching jordan end his chances with the jazz. im rooting for detroit just because of him. oh and i like big ben wallace. how can you root against the afro?

Posted by pipe0007 on Jun-07-2004 07:14:

i heat the lakers

Posted by BadBadNeil on Jun-07-2004 13:37:

there is a god! the pistons beat the lakers in game 1

Posted by Omegasox on Jun-07-2004 16:19:

It's about time someone understands that to beat the Lakers you let Shaq and Kobe get theirs and just shut down the roleplayers. Larry Brown is a defensive mastermind, it's a shame he had to leave Philly.

This series is gonna go all 7 games, as for who will win... I want Detroit to win.

Posted by tranceaholic on Jun-07-2004 18:41:

i pick lakers in 6...so what the pistons won the first game..i am glad they did..that will get the lakers inspired and awaken the beast..detroit made thier game plan fairly obvious and phil will work his way around it..i expect karl malone and payton to play harder as they r the one who wants it most..the lakers r mad, awakened and not as cocky..so watchout.

ummm no chance..lakers will take it..game 1 win gave detroit hope..but the lakers r up to the challenge, they r intrested now and when challenged fear them the most..no way detroit taking 4 gms from the lakers

After Game 1 its pretty tough to pick the Lakers,I mean is Malone gonna play like crap again,Detroit seems more youthful and they play better defence than the lakers, and we all know defence wins championships.

Posted by Omegasox on Jun-08-2004 09:37:

The Sixers managed to shock the Lakers and win Game 1 in the 2001 Finals and went on to get swept the next 4 games. I wouldn't put too much emphasis on this game until Detroit manages to win again.

hmm...tonight will obviously tell alot...but what happens if the pistons win tonight...i honestly felt that it would be finished in six, detroit winning at home, but now im starting to think that the Lakers might not win a single game...thats right, yah heard it hear first, LAKERS MIGHT BE SWEPT IN FOUR...then Phil Jackson say bubye, malone/payton bubye, and possibly even kobe bubye...all in all, they might implode by the end of game 2...WHY??? because Detroit's defense is TOO GOOD...yes i know thats poor english but thats what it is, too good...not amazing, not terrific, not superb, its just too damn good for any team in the nba...when they clamp down in the final four or five minutes of the fourth quarter, its over. Don't believe me, then watch tonight. Detroit goes back home with a 2-0 lead as they beat the lakers again with their unstoppable defense...

Posted by tranceaholic on Jun-08-2004 16:48:

there is no way they r winning tonight..you underestimate the lakers too much...thier game plan is fairly obvious now and phil jackson is a smart coach..i expect the rest of the laker team to step up tonight..the lakers play when they are challeneged..they went in confident and without knowing much about detroit...the day the pistons sweep is the day i will give up watching bball..i repeat there is no way NO WAY the pistons will sweep..

they gonna lose (Pistons)

If the best L.A has with four future hall of famers and the most dominant(largest) center in basketball is to beat the Pistons on a desperation 3 pointer with 2 seconds left I think they are in trouble.

well think about... when they played the spurs(was it the spurs, dont know if it was them or t-wolves) fischer had shot the ball in a 4th of a second. (the game was very close last night, if kobe hadnt made dat shot then it wouldve been all over; i guess after going into overtime they just got their shit together. i'm guessing wat they need all the time is a lil bit of pressure and motivation

there goes ur genious theory of a laker sweep

In my opinion coach Brown made a huge mistake and that's why Detroit lost the game. In my opinion Pistons could faul Shaq in these last seconds and then Lakers wouldn't have had the chance to score 3 points...When Bryant hit this amazing 3 pt shot I knew that Lakers won't loose the game. Pity, but I hope to see Pistons 2nd victory in MoTown in upcoming game

I was thinking the same thing. They made a few errors in the stretch including not fouling shaq hard enough to prevent the triple point play before the last play as well. I turned it off after normal time because I knew the lakers would win in overtime, especially with the momentum.

Posted by tranceaholic on Jun-09-2004 17:40:

after winning this game lakers have the momentum and the detroit morale is down...i am picking the lakers to win next game..good series so far.
