Who's unemployed

Who here is unemployed and what do you do all day?
I'm unemployed and if i don't get a job soon, I am going to start volenteering at different places, so atleast I am occupied.

I've been unemployed for 4 months now and I really can't stand it. I've been sitting on the computer all day and watching tv. I've also been going for interviews a lot, but no luck yet.

I wouldn't mind not having a job for the next few weeks because euro 2004 is about to start.

I hardly ever go out the house unless it's the weekend.

Have been unemployed for 4 & a half years now (but I worked for 12 years prior to this).

I live near the beach so I have alot of things to do to keep me occupied, plus I don't need much stimulus to keep myself from going insane (as long as I have my choons).

The sad part is I'm not bored at all, nor do I get bored easily.

I've been unemployed for a couple of months now and it sucks! To be honest i am F**KING pissed off and bored as hell. And my eyes hurt from staring at a PC screen all day trying to look for a job! Having a degree means fuck all to people these days, so young english TAs dont go to university!!!! Get an apprenticeship or on the job training instead, thats what i would of done in hindsight!

so true. I went to uni for a year and dropped out because I just felt that it was pointless. My manager in the bar/restaurant where I worked told me uni was pointless because employers want work experience instead of educational qualifications.

I've applied for a modern apprenticeship as gas and oil technician, working away on oil rigs. Hopefully i'll be starting the course in september.

graduated in October from College, been to 20 interviews since then, just got unlucky and not been hired. It is a very difficult job time and as Chesco said they want experience as well as schooling..stupid bastards. I spend half the day applying to places and I go to this job centre where people help me with resumes, interviews and stuff. I need a job, rather work than doing jackshiat and the other half of my day is working on ivibes.nu to eventually show to employers, here is my track record. I think I'm doing both rather well.....I had 3 interviews last week.

Life must be soooo rough. How do you do it?

Posted by mdamon7278 on Jun-07-2004 17:28:

Take it day by day!!!

Posted by Lucky Striker on Jun-07-2004 17:35:

You guys are pretty lucky. If I was unemployed, I'd be on the streets within about 2 or 3 months or else I'd have to go back to my parental units. Theres no such thing as welfare net where I am.

Even with a job I cant afford to go party on the weekends. I'm always bumming off my friends.

Posted by mdamon7278 on Jun-07-2004 17:40:

Fuck that shit, stop bumming out your friends, u do it to them for once and see how they like it, thats what happen to me in high school, not anymore, fuck that shit, dont let yourself get caught in that situation!!!

Posted by Lucky Striker on Jun-07-2004 17:42:

I'm sure you mean well but you dont really know my situation that well.

no i don't care at all. but don't give someone shit because they are having a hard time and you can afford to live it up. you obviously don't know what it is like to live in a situation like Lucky Stirker where you have to support yourself, so don't give people your bullshit.

I needed a job like about a month ago...still have not found one....and I need to get one in the next couple of days so I can pay rent at the end of the month....

Posted by mdamon7278 on Jun-07-2004 17:51:

First of all,Im just explaining to the whom ever about bumming friends out, either if they have to or they are willing, most of us know that bumming friends out of situations is always a pain in the ass, either they get paid back or they dont, im just expressing my opinion thats all!!!

Landlords tend to like getting their rent checks.

No man, some punks stole my new car, all my cds, my mp3 player and a lot of other shit (I live in South Africa after all, this happens). I was insured but those bastards always find a way to make you pay, so I'm still a bit short.

When I was up, the first round was always on me. Its been like this for about 3 months.

I moved out of my parents house at 18 and have been able to support myself (and give them a little bit of money back) eversince. So what if I ask my mates to help out a friend?

Posted by BTG on Jun-07-2004 18:09:

i just got another job today. yah!

its gay shifts though, 3PM - 11PM, :X
