Crackling and lack of depth to System Soundbars soundsystem.

Anyone else notice this? I was there friday for Lawler after a three month hiatus and well... It was rather shocking actually. I remembered their system being better.

Once when i was there...which was actually a while ago...I remember the sound system being TERRIBLE...there was a definite lag between the sound comming out from the front speakers and the sound comming out from the rear...it was so strange I couldnt believe i was actually hearing this...but then again I haven't been there in a while and i heard they renovated a lot so...

You know what, It was bad before... I don't think it's gotten any better, I just think at the time I didn't know any better... I have to thank Boa for opening my ears

The overall lack of response to this thread makes me think that maybe there are a ton of System junkies here who don't like admitting the truth, but it's so obvious that they can't refute it. All I really want is a justification for it, not a review, simply how can they let their sound be so bad!

maybe people just dont think its bad now? there are more possibilites than you have presented

I'm honestly not trying to start a debate, what I'm looking for is how a club can continue to exist with a massive and dedicated crowd, and yet put very little effort into perfecting their sound. Perhaps 150,000 german watts have jaded me But I'm not going to complain about that lol :P

I dunno just after hearing the Guv, sound system nothing else impresses me...well the docks is great too I should say...but when I was at system i was not impressed with the sound at all...I mean it wasn't BAD other than the delay from front to back but it's nothing mindblowing IMO...and yes Harlequin there are a lot of System Junkies that just don't want to admit hehe

I wonder why too... Why there are so many system junkies

Space in Ibiza, no sound is clearer. My beef with systems sound system is how loud it is. Its actually painful!

Posted by SKELETOR on Jun-08-2004 18:42:

the sound improved a lot from before but its still just O.K.

my ears ring like a bitch after ... never happens when i go to boa.

Posted by Skipper on Jun-08-2004 18:58:

A lot of people who go to system don't care about the sound. It's good enough. No it's not the best in the city by any means, but that doesn't matter to a lot of people.

Whether or not your ears ring after a night at boa isn't entirely dependent on the system. It depends how much the DJ pushes the levels. I've had nights there where my ears ring, and other nights where they don't ring at all.

So what is it about System?
I played there in the VIP room before it was renovated scarry...but after renovation i hear it's great...but anyways what is it about System you System junkies?

Hehe, as it occurs to me a lot of the System crowd isn't old enough to go to Boa (or System for that matter).

ya..i'm definately a system junkie and the sound at system soundbar just doesn't cut it for me. I realize sure a lot of people there are just content with the music....but as for me, the sound is part of what makes the song good. And in my opinion system soundbar is doing a poor job at that.
As for the bar....i love it there. So, what ever.

I agree, a song can be great but a poor soundsystem doesn't do it justice.

I also agree that the overall volume at some clubs can ruin the sound. Even the guv is guilty of this. I like it loud, don't get me wrong. You need to feel the bass in your chest and the crisp mids and highs give that 3d sound. But when it's so loud that the highs are piercing and the bass sounds like mush, it ruins the music (not to mention your ears). In all my experience partying over the last few years, I must say that I've only been to a handful of parties where the sound is done proper.

The sound was fine, it even got raves on the TRIBE boards.

Quit pumping up BOA.

Quite frankly, as good as BOA is for sound, the crowd is seriously lacking for me.

It seems to me that it's more of a cross section of Film and Guvernment barbie dolls, and their minature incredible hulks, than it is serious party people. It's expected for a new club, and I'm glad to be seeing more and more of the regular Toronto massive out supporting it, but right now, System is hard to beat for crowd. As for age, I've met more than my share of 18 yr olds @ everyclub in the city, BOA included.

And aren't you working for BOA these days btw?

It was bad before... really bad (as far as "super club" standards go) but when I went back to see Zabiela with the new renovations I was quite impressed with the improvement of sound quality and response

EDIT: by the way by no means am I a System "junkie", I didn't like the place before (with the poor sound system and poor location of the DJ booth) but now that they changed each of these problems I'm now a System-convert... but not a junkie!

Posted by The Highroller on Jun-08-2004 23:37:

i agree that the sound needs to be upgraded in that place, but it doesn't stop me from going. system is my favourite club, and i don't see that changing. we'll see when i head to Boa for the first time for Tenaglia, but I doubt it will become my favourite.

i haven't seen a club in Toronto that has as good a crowd as system.

I LOVE System, but I have to agree with people that the stereo could be better. With the talent they bring in, I really do hope they improve it. It pains me to say this but Comfort Zone's system sounds better than Systems

Comfort Zone has amazing acoustics and sound.
