You Have Got To Be Kidding Me!!!!!!!
I just bought my first decks, and received them today - HAPPY DAYZ
Opening the box, I found one of the counterweights has broken off the tonearm
NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOO, YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME!!!!!!!
(Insert several thousand expletives here, luckily no one else was home)
I can't believe this, f*cking Australia Post has broken my new decks.
The decks are Numark TT1650, does anyone know if you can replace the tonearm?
Has this happened to anyone else? What did you do?
I am in dire need of help!!!
How do you mean broken? Were they not screwed off for transit? Or is it the bit which holds the counter weight?
the weights just screw on....
You sure it hasnt just fallen off.....
No, snapped.
The bit that the weight screws onto has snapped off the rest of the tonearm!!
they are brand new..? get them replaced by the shop, they will be compensate by the carriers as it will be insured.
kick up enough of a fuss and they will sort it
Thats the problem (I accidently left it out of my first post)
I bought them 2nd hand off ebay. I've already sent a pissed off email to the seller, I'm not gonna stop till this has been sorted out. I'm gonna rip everyone a new arsehole until i find who has fucked up here, and until they fix it.
I will never again buy 2nd hand DJ stuff off ebay, and will warn everyone off it as well... This has been a massive fuckup, and I don't need this right at the moment, i'm under enough stress as it is.
Hopefully I can just switch tonearms, or i may be able to improvise a repair
HOW COULD I BE SO F*CKIN STUPID!!!!!
that's too bad
the tonearms on a tt1650 are not replaceable, i once enquired as i used to have them and one of the tonearms got slightly bent when i was playing on them whilst fucked..
either way, the seller SHOULD have sent it by insured delivery, so if it was damaged during transit, the seller should contact the carrier and arrange for them to supply him/her with the funds equal to the value of the goods (which he/she should have declared when sending it), and thus he should at least give you a refund.
chin up
I feel for you mate. Good luck

do what we Americans do best - SUE!!! SOMEBODY...ANYBODY! hehe
lmao damn straight
that sucks about your deck. sniffle, sniffle
did you insure the shipment?
i sent my technics from school (Los Angeles) to my parents home (st. louis) for the summer last year.
I got my tables back and they were all fecked up. the tone arms were bent so that they would swing back to the right and the on/off switch was all messed.
i luckly had the tables insured and UPS paid for the 350 dollars it cost me to get them repaired at the electronic repairs shop.
so if you got it insured you could maybe either get the table fixed (if its fixable) or replaced.
only thing is it takes a good while for them to get stuff done. you just gotta keep calling them and stay on their ass. it took me about a month and a half to have everythign back in order
What kind of packaging did you ship your technics in?
good excuse to buy some 1200's !
Thats harsh mate. You need something to ease the pain.
Not to rub anything in, but I bought my tables back in the day off eBay and they arrived just fine. Just because some asshole doesn't know how to pack a box and another one doesn't know how to carry it without dropping it doesn't mean that eBay isnt a safe choice for buying things. That really sucks about your decks, but keep on the guy and I am sure something will be worked out. Most parcels of that size are insured by the delivery company. Good luck.
-Your friendly neighborhood eBay addict
Ya i've never had a problem with ebay hopefully you got shipping insurance so you'll be able to get a new table.
when u buy from EBAY you should ALWAYS ask about their packaging. before you make the sale final u should ask them how they will pack it and will it come in original box with foam and stuff like that. never buy from someone if they dont supply you with answers. also, u should get insurance on big purchases like TT's. ebay can be very shady... always try to take the right steps so that you dont get screwed over.
I woulda been so pissed if that happend to me...
Super pissed.
i use e-bay but one thing i always try avoid buying is electrical goods cose if they dont work u can easily get screwed over
