Need alittle help from you FLTA's

Im looking to get out of NYC for a while, this city is doing nothing for me. I need help finding a school/university (NO community colleges) that offers a Radiology program. I found 2 (UCF & UF) but I want a school closer to Miami that way I can room with Brian cause we want to find a place not too far from Miami. Any/all incite would be appreciated, thanks.

Hey! Well, you know that we would welcome you with open arms!

I'll see what I can find out about some schools down here.

I would look at Nova Southeastern Univeristy in Fort Lauderdale, they might offer your major, but be careful, its a private school, and they can be very shady, I know, I went and graduated from that school, so watch yourself!!!

what about FAU (florida atlantic U)
or Barry.... however barry is also private... which sucks for finances, esp if you are gonna attend before you are a certifiable FL resident....

I'd help you but.... I'm moving from Florida in exactly one week.

A friend of mine went to FAU and he couldnt wait to get out of that school... he said there were too many druggies in the school... his roommate happened to be a dealer... how lucky he was.

anuneventrade, aww... where you going?

Ugh, after thinking about this, going to school in Florida is gonna raise some really big problems...

Since I wont be a resident of the state of Florida, I might not be able to get Financial Aid which I so desperately will need

-and-

Since I have no established credit, I wont be able to take out any loans to pay off school tuition.

Your considered a resident after only like 6 months or so and with student loans, prior credit doesn't usually matter to much unless its bad if you have none they usually work for you.

Here are some local universities:

University of Miami
Johnson and Wales
FIU
FAU
St. Thomas University
Barry University
Nova Southeastern
Miami-Dade College
National School of Technology

Vlad....go to community college for 6 months and become a resident then apply for financial aid.....one nice thing about being a resident in FL is there is no state taxes.

FYI .I'm pretty sure that you have to be living in FL for 1 year for a state university.

Cali for a few weeks, then Seattle. Sucks that I won't get to meet you before I go

As much as I go to south beach to party, I wouldnt really recommend it as being a great place to live and study. Miami is one of those cities that is SOOO big, and there are only a few nicer, upscale areas. Its pretty ghetto, and even a little "ghetto-fab" in south beach at times. And Miami schools are ghetto too.

FAU is not so bad. The Boca Raton campus is beautiful, but its full of rich, snobby kids (and I dont doubt druggies either). Theres a Ft. Lauderdale campus too next to BCC (community college). Nova is a nice school, but Im not aware of all the politics involved. My girlfriend is starting grad school there soon, and pretty much every attorney in south florida went to law school there. Its very reputable.

I would recommend going further north like in the Palm Beach area and try FAU. Its just nicer, and better up there. I have lived in south Florida pretty much my whole life with the exception of a couple years in high school when I got to leave the country (thank god). I have just watched south Florida deteriorate throughout the past couple of years and its a damn shame. Im so sick of it here and I dont plan on raising a family or living here for that much longer.

Coming from NY, its probably different though. Its like someone moving there and getting all excited and you telling them how sick of it you are.

My 2 cents

What's wrong with you Mofo's, Miami is great. And if your really that opposed to Miami there is south Broward which is close to Miami but a little bit more capita per house. We need people to come down here and invest so there won't be this negative connotation of Miami as being poor except for south beach.

Ok well I got an email back from UM telling me that since its a private university that I dont have to worry about not being a florida resident - the tuition is the same for all - financial aid and loans is all the same, although they do have grants that are only eligable to florida residents (same for NYC too).
